Free Nhl Hockey Picks - February 13, 2009We missed on all three of our NHL picks last night. Today we return to the NHL ice looking to gain some ground with four picks including a 5-unit selection. ![]() Today's NHL Hockey Picks: The Bruins have carved themselves out a special season, and on the road have lost just five times this season. Credit has to go to tremendous goaltending and a focused defense as they have allowed just 45 goals in their last 25 road games, or an amazing 1.8 per game. The Devils have put together a pretty good season themselves, especially lately where they have won 11 of their last 13. They have done it the same way - keeping the puck out of the net as in six of those 13 games, the opponent scored one time or less. That Bruins’ road defense has led to 18 of their last 24 on the road going UNDER, and this series has seen a 5-2-1 mark to the UNDER in the last eight played in New Jersey. I like the UNDER in this one. Game: Chicago at St. Louis (8:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 6 -120 (risk 3 to win 2.5) The Blackhawks have been on the road for a longtime as this will be the eighth and final game of a trip that started on January 28. It has been a good trip, as outside of a seven-goal explosion allowed at Vancouver, the Blackhawks have been solid on the defensive end. They have allowed just 13 goals in the other six games, or about two per contest. The Blues have gotten in defensive mode when the good road teams come to St. Louis. They have played 20-8-2 to the UNDER against a visitor with a winning road record, while the Blackhawks are 10-2-1 to the UNDER in their last 13 as a favorite. I like this one to finish UNDER. Game: Montreal at Colorado (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 5 units on Colorado -107 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 4.7) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 6 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Avalanche will be glad to get home after heading on the road and dropping three straight games. They finished their last home stand with back-two-back wins. Lately, they have been involved in lots of tight, low-scoring affairs, as their last four have gone UNDER the total. The Habs have been reeling, as they come into this one off of four straight defeats, and have not managed to top the two goal mark in any of them. They have struggled on the road offensively, as they have now managed just two goals or less in nine of their last 12 road games. The Canadiens scoring woes, along with the Avalanche low-scoring, tight game recent trend, along with the fact the Habs are struggling to win, and have dropped their last four in Colorado, all points to the Avalanche and UNDER here. Results: 2-1 ![]() NHL Hockey Picks Resources:
