Nhl Picks Handicapping - February 12, 2008

After passing on last night's single game, we hit the ice tonight with three picks. Over the last three weeks our NHL picks are up 33.6 units.

Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Buffalo at Ottawa (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Ottawa -170 (moneyline) (risk 2 to win 1.2)

Ottawa is 6-3 SU over its last nine home games and is 6-1 when hosting the Sabres. Ottawa has beaten Buffalo five of the last six times overall. Over the last seven times these two teams have met, Ottawa has scored more goals at 3.3 to Buffalo’s 2.4 and taken more shots 29.5 to the Sabres’ 28.6. Ottawa has also scored nine PP goals in their last seven meetings. Take Ottawa to continue their dominance over visiting Buffalo.

Game: Detroit at Nashville (8:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Detroit -141 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.1)

Detroit has lost three straight, but the bottom line is that they own Nashville. Detroit is 6-1 over their division rival last seven times these teams have met. Lately, the Red Wings have been road warriors to the tune of 11-2 over their last 13 road games. Detroit gets off the three-game skid tonight in Nashville.

Game: Anaheim at Colorado (9:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Colorado +113 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.4)

You may be saying, "How can we pick Colorado?" Well there are several reasons here.  First, Colorado is 4-2 SU in its last 6 games. Second, Colorado is 6-2 SU in its last eight games when playing at home against Anaheim. Finally, Colorado is RARELY a dog at home and we are getting a great price. This game should be a very tight battle. We expect the score to be close. Colorado can score against anyone. They are ranked No. 5 in the Western Conference with 159 total goals compared to Anaheim's 144. On top of all that offense Colorado may get back leading offensive player Pual Statsny. If Colorado keeps it close you have a great opportunity. Take the Avs at home.
