Hockey Game Predictions - February 11, 2009

We missed out last night going 1-3.  We look to turn things around and add to this week's 11-9, 55% run with two premium plays this evening.

Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Chicago at Atlanta (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 6 +110 (risk 3 to win 3.3)

The Blackhawks have had a successful season both at home and on the road, it has been the defense and goal tending that has made the difference. They are of off a game where they allowed seven goals which is very revealing. They have had six other games where they allowed five goals or more on the season and those were followed by three, two, two, one, two and two goals allowed the next game. That is two goals per game. The season shows the Blackhawks have allowed two or fewer goals 28 times already. The Thrashers sure don't look like a threat to those numbers as they have managed but 12 goals in their last seven games, or just 1.7 per contest. The Thrashers have now played under to the tune of 20-8-2 in their last 30 home games vs a team with a winning road record. This one stays UNDER the total.

The Penguins have been all over the place lately, so you have to tune into what they are doing in the moment as they are capable of winning five straight or losing five straight. The standout feature for them right now is behind the net as they have allowed just 12 goals in their last seven home games. The Sharks have shown some wear as they have dropped three of their last four, but have still allowed only eight goals in their last five on the road, and offensively have not been productive off a five+ goal game, as they are 36-16-3 to the under, after scoring five or more. Penguins follow suit, as they are 38-16-6 to the under facing an opponent off of scoring five or more. Same situation, same result. I like this one to go UNDER.
