Free Nhl Predictions - February 10, 2009
We nailed both of our picks last night to boost our week-long NHL run to 63%, 10-6 (+12.1 units). Today we are back with four premium NHL picks including a 4-unit play.
Today's NHL Hockey Picks:
Game: San Jose at Boston (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -130 (risk 2 to win 1.5)
A big-time heavyweight matchup tonight that could be a preview of the Stanley Cup Finals puts the Sharks against the Bruins in the Garden. The Sharks are tough because they defend and get great net play on the road where they have held nine of their last 14 opponents to two goals or less. Not to be outdone, the Bruins have allowed just 54 goals in their last 23 on home ice or just 2.3 goals a game. This will be playoff hockey, which means hard checking. The Sharks have played 8-3-1 UNDER in their last 12 on the road. The Bruins stand at 35-17-1 to the UNDER against road teams with a .600+ winning percentage. This one goes UNDER.
Game: Colorado at Culumbus (7:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Colorado +127 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 5.1)
The Avalanche is off a season worst 1-7 stretch, have begun to show signs of life as they have now claimed victory in two of their last three. The Blue Jackets revved up the engines to surprise San Jose in their last game in a shootout 3-2, but overall they have dropped three of their last four. They could be flat here off an emotional win and have not played well recently, as they had dropped their previous three games. The Blue Jackets rose to the occasion against San Jose, but history tells us by their 12-39 mark in their last 51 against teams with a losing record, they don't show up for the weaker teams. The Avalanche is a live dog here and they get the call.
Game: Los Angeles at New York Islanders (7:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 2 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -130 (risk 2 to win 1.5)
The Kings have suddenly risen to the .500 mark on the road on the strength of wins in five of their last six. The Kings have been stellar on the road behind the net, allowing just 2.2 goals a game in their last 10 on the road. This is still however, a team with offensive deficiencies as they have played in 24 road games already this season where they have scored two or fewer goals. The Islanders have been even less efficient on offense managing just 23 goals in their last 12 games - under two per contest. The Kings have now played eight straight UNDERS against teams with a losing record, while the Islanders have played seven straight UNDER at home. This one goes UNDER the total.
Game: Atlanta at Tampa Bay (7:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Game Total UNDER 6 -120 (risk 4 to win 3.3)
The Lightning offense has come to a screeching halt as they have managed just eight goals in their past five games. The Thrashers have matched the offensive futility. They have been shutout twice in their last six games, and are managing just nine goals or 1.5 per contest. These teams have trouble producing goals. When you put them together, it has followed with low-scoring results. The last six times these teams have met, the games have played UNDER. With both offenses at season lows right now, there is no reason to expect anything different here. The UNDER is the call in this game.
