Free Nhl Hockey Picks - February 06, 2009

We went 1-2 for a slight loss last night.  We are currently hitting 67% for +8 units over the last three days and look to add to that tonight with two premium picks.

Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: New Jersey at Atlanta (7:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 +100 (risk 3 to win 3)

The devils have got it going on in their road games as they have notched the win in their last six on the road. The product of superb goal tending and hard checking defense, which has allowed just ten pucks to trickle through the net in the six games, or 1.67 per contest. That may be all they need here as the Thrashers offense has crash landed, managing just nine goals in their last five games and getting shutout twice in the process. Thrashers have played eight straight to the under vs teams with a winning percentage of .600 or greater on the road, while the Devils are now 45-20-6 to the under vs teams with a home winning percentage of .400 or lower. UNDER gets the nod here.

The Stars have been a streaky team this season surrounding good stretches with bad. They just came off a five game winning streak and if form holds true, they are about to go south again after their loss to Colorado. The Rangers are off three straight road losses, but two at the hands of Stanley Cup runner up Pittsburgh and the other in Boston where the Bruins are 19-3-1. They should face much less resistance in this one. The Stars have not been a good team in the second of back-to-back nights where they are just 2-10 in their last 12. Rangers enter 6-2 in their last eight after scoring two goals or less and 4-1 against the Pacific. Good spot for the Rangers here, and I'll back them in this one.
