Nhl Picks Handicapping - February 03, 2010We nailed last night's play as Phoenix and Nashville came in under the total. Today we hit the ice with a trio of premium picks including a 4-unit play. Last night's winner lifted our three-month NHL mark to 240-158 (60%) for +179 units.
![]() Today's NHL Hockey Picks: The Blackhawks come home off a successful road trip to a comfort zone that sees them win with high frequency. The Blackhawks win here because they seldom give up much. Their last five at home show them allowing just 7 goals, or 1.4 per game. The Blues are a mystery, playing poorly at home, but at a much higher level on the road. The road defense has carried the mail as the Blues have allowed just 4 goals in their last three road games or 1.3 per contest. The Blues are at their best on the defensive end vs. the best, and have turned in a 7-1-2 UNDER mark on the road vs. a home team with a home winning percentage of .600+. The Blackhawks are 16-6 in their last 22 as a home favorite, and five of the last six have gone UNDER in this series. I'll be on the UNDER in this one.Game: Philadelphia at Edmonton (9:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Edmonton +1.5 goals -180 (puckline) (risk 4 to win 2.2) The Edmonton Oilers have really hit the skids. However, they rallied to end a 13-game winless streak their last time out on the ice. While the winning has certainly not come easy for this team, it has served as an inspiration on the ice the next time out. The Oilers, despite losing many games by multiple goals, have really been at their best after posting a win. The Oilers are 11-4 to a would-be +1.5 puckline in their game following a win. That represents 73.3% of the time. That is almost a 3-1 odds ratio, and they have to lay 1.75-1 odds here, clearly in the value and profit zone. I'll go with Edmonton in this one.Game: Detroit at Anaheim (10:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -130 (risk 3 to win 2.3) The Ducks’ offense is really struggling right now, and over the last six games they have tallied just 12 goals, sitting at 2 per game. The Red Wings have had problems of their own scoring on the road, with just 20 scores in their last 10 roadies, or 2 per game. The Wings are off a win, and they have followed a win by posting a 21-7-3 mark to the UNDER, as well as playing 11-4 to the UNDER with no rest. The Ducks are also off a win, and they have produced a 19-7 mark to the UNDER after a win. Two struggling offenses, both showing UNDER tendencies off of wins, adds up to 40-14-3, makes the call in this one on the UNDER. ![]() NHL Hockey Picks Resources:
