Hockey Betting Pick - February 03, 2009

Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Pittsburgh at Montreal (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 6 -130 (risk 3 to win 2.3)

The Canadiens have played in just two home games with the total posted at six or higher. This one is getting bumped by the high-flying Penguins. I am not so sure if this is the right number here as the Penguins’ offense has been for the most part missing of late. They have scored three goals or less in 15 of their last 18 games, while the Canadiens have gone three or less in seven of their last nine. The Penguins have been under to the tune of a 20-8-2 mark as a dog of +110 to +150 in their last 30. This is the fourth game in six days for the Habs, and they have played UNDER to a record of 20-8-3 the last 31 times in this situation. I like the UNDER in this one.

The Kings have been shutout seven times already this season, but they are really heating up on the offensive end. The Kings have scored 19 goals in their last four games. To put that in perspective, it took them 11 games prior to this hot-offensive streak to score 19! They have not had a four-game stretch all season with better offensive production. Ottawa has only claimed the winning side in seven of their last 21 games. They are certainly not playing well, and are just 18-39 in their last 57 games - hardly a team you want to back as a favorite. Additionally, the Kings have the Senators number as they are 6-1-1 in the last eight played between these two. We have a live dog here, so the Kings get the call.

Dallas has got it rolling as they have won four straight games with three of those wins coming on the road. That will give them a boat load of confidence coming home where they have dropped just two of their last 10. The Flames have dropped three of their last four on the road where their play has been spotty all season long. This spot is even tougher as the Flames played last night and they are just 1-8 in their last nine without rest. The Flames have been doused at Dallas in their last 10 games as they sport just a 2-7-1 mark in the last 10 trips into Big D. The Stars get the call in this one.
