Nhl Playoff Predictions - April 26, 2010We scored our fifth winning NHL night out of the last seven last night as we hit two of four, gaining about one unit of profit. Today look to keep the heat on the NHL ice with picks in three games tonight. Over the last week in the NHL playoffs, we have gone 26-15 for 63% and +18 units.
![]() Today's NHL Hockey Picks: The Boston Bruins own a 3-2 series edge and will try and close out the Sabres on home ice in game six tonight. I like their chnces here. The Bruins came on late in the season and a lot of that has to be attributed to inserting Tuukka Rask behind the net on a consistent basis. Rask has been very good, and at home he has been a force for the Bruins. He has allowed just 3 goals in the two games played in Boston. Over his last seven on home ice behind the net, Rask has been huge, allowing just 10 goals or 1.4 per game. The Sabres are not puting up much of a fight as a road dog in the playoffs at just 1-7 in their last eight. I'll go with Boston here.Game: Buffalo at Boston (7:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Boston -1.5 goals +230 (puckline) (risk 2 to win 4.6) If you're a Bruins fan you have to admire the decidion of putting Tuukka Rask behind the net late in the season, as the Bruins seemed to be renewed by his consistency, and have played with confidence since. That has been particularly true at home, where the Bruins have seen him allow just 10 goals in his last 7 on home ice. That puts the Bruins in a good spot at long odds to grab this one on the puckline, which is my call here.Game: Washington at Montreal (7:10 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Washington -190 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 2.1) I don't think most thought this series would reach 6 games, but here we are. The Caps are a tough team off a loss home or away as the Habs have already witnessed in this series. Washington has taken down the Habs, on their own ice by a count of 11-4. What it really shows is how slim the Canadiens margin for error is here, as they are not on the same level as the Caps. Caps boast a 50-21 mark in their last 71 as a favorite, which extends to 41-13 when allowing 2 goals or less in their last game. Canadiens just 2-11 in their last 13 as a playoff dog. Washington in this one.Game: Washington at Montreal (7:15 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Washington -1.5 goals +170 (puckline) (risk 2 to win 3.4) Washington has been surprisingly extended to game six here, after a 2-1 home loss to the Canadiens. They have had no difficulty at all playing here winning the two games on the road by an 11-4 count. The Habs are historically poor as a playoff dog, cashing just two of their last 13, putting the Caps in a position for another big win, so I'll grab them on the puckline.Game: Chicago at Nashville (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 5 units on Chicago -150 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 3.3) We have seen a lot of good teams getting extended in the NHL first round. That includes Chicago, now up 3-2 ready for game six on the road. The Blackhawks have really turned up the defensive heat following their two losses in this series as they have followed each of them with shutouts. The Predators are just 5-15 in their last 20 in the quarterfinals, and 4-13 as a dog. The Blackhawks are not shy to winning on the road, picking up the win in five of their last six. I'll go with Chicago in this one.Game: Chicago at Nashville (9:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Chicago -1.5 goals +205 (puckline) (risk 2 to win 4.1) The Chicago Blackhawks have come back with a vengeance off their two playoffs losses in the first round to the Predators. They have shut them out in both ensuing games. That certainly turns a bright light onto the puckline here as the Blackhawks, when assertive and playing with purpose, have proven to be too much for the Predators. I'll go with Chicgo on the puckline. Results: 3-3 ![]() NHL Hockey Picks Resources:
