Nhl Hockey Picks - April 18, 2008

Another winning night last night with a slight net unit of +.5 to boost our playoffs run to 61%. We have three picks for tonight - all 4-unit plays. Let's keep it rolling...

Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: New York at New Jersey (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on New York +105 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 4.2)

The Rangers have treated us well these playoffs. They have been all over Brodeur in this series as well. Avery has been harassing Broduer including face guarding him and running into him. Jagr bulled over Brodeur in Game 4 with a strong move to the net, knocking Brodeur to the ice. The Rangers rough play with Brodeur has come with little consequences. The Devil's have looked lackluster at times and their defense has been suspect. We look for the trend to continue tonight. NY Rangers are 5-1 in their last six games when playing on the road against New Jersey. They are a slight dog on the road tonight which is favorable. Take the Rangers over New Jersey tonight.

Hey, give Nashville credit for getting back in the series. But let's be realistic, in the long run Detroit is a better team and should ultimately win the series. Hasek being pulled is not a good sign for Detroit, but Osgood is a veteran goalie with plenty of experience. Hasek was very shaky in game 2 and ultimately lost the game for his team. Osgood should be better in net and give the team more confidence. Nashville was really riding a wave at home. Their fans have been absolutely crazy and have helped Nashville ride that emotional wave. That won't be the case tonight in Hockey Town. Detroit will come out strong and keep Nashville's emotions at bay. Detroit is 9-1 in its last 10 games when playing at home against Nashville. After tonight that streak will be 10-1. Take Detroit over Nashville.

Turco is playing fantastic right now, completely frustrating the Ducks. The Stars are feeding off his play. The Ducks have scored one third period goal in this series! ONE GOAL! Anaheim has never rallied from a 3-1 series deficit in franchise history. Dallas is 4-1 in its last five games on the road. Dallas is also 9-4 in its last 13 games when playing Anaheim. No doubt about it - the defending champs have their hands full. Dallas has been the better team in this series and they play well on the road. Look for the Stars to pull out the 4-1 series victory tonight. Take Dallas as a dog against Anaheim.
