Nhl Pick - April 14, 2008
Rough Sunday for us in the playoffs. We look to recover today with a pair of picks.
Today's NHL Hockey Picks:
Game: Pittsburgh at Ottawa (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Pittsburgh -143 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.1)
The Senators dominated the series last year, eliminating the Pens in 5 games. Not so much this year. Crosby, Malkin, Skykora and Roberts are all playing well for the Pens. Pittsburgh leads the series 2-0. Let's not forget the Senators are short-handed without Alfredsson, Fisher, Chris Kelly and Spezza. This may be a different series if those four were in the games. Without those four the Pens have a strong advantage offensively and things will be no different tonight in Ottawa. Pittsburgh is on a bit of streak right now going 6-2 in their last eight games. Pittsburgh will continue to put strong offensive pressure on and will keep Ottawa on their heels. If the Pens open up an early lead this game could be over quickly as Ottawa will have a tough time scoring. Look for Pittsburgh to come out on top in this Eastern Conference playoffs match.
Game: Minnesota at Colorado (10:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Colorado -153 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2)
Colorado had a tough break in game 2. The overtime goal by the Wild bounced off a defensemen’s stick and went into the net. Theodore never had a chance to make a save. The Avs got un-lucky. Before that the Avs have been playing great behind absolute shut-down goaltending by Jose Theodore. Colorado has had the lead going into the third period in both games so far. If they continue that streak tonight the Wild will have a very hard time coming back against the Avs at home. The Avs have simply dominated at home lately going 9-1 in their past 10 games at home. Playing the Avs at home with Theodore hot is a bad combination for the Wild. Take the Avs over the Wild.
Results: 1-1

We went with the Stars in game one and they paid off at +150. We like them again at a similar line. Yes, it's a bold move but we like Dallas here for a lot of the same reasons. This team is more m...
