Free Hockey Picks - April 13, 2008

Nailed our selection last night for +6.2 units. We are 5-2 in the playoffs for +13.6 units so far. We like the board a lot today, taking all four games including a 4-unit play.

Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Philadelphia Flyers at Washington Capitals (2:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Washington Capitals -150 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2)

An afternoon playoff delight goes today in Washington. The first meeting between these two teams was a dandy with 9 total goals including one from Ovechkin who had the winner. The second match between these two teams shouldn't dissappoint. The Flyers have openly admitted it will be tough to stop Ovechkin and today will be no different. The Caps will come out flying at home and we look for them to open an early lead. Most recently Washington is 9-1 after a win and that trend should continue. Take the Caps at home in game 2.

Game: Montreal Canadiens at Boston Bruins (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Montreal Canadiens -123 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 3.3)

Montreal dominated in the regular season and they are now dominating in the post season against Boston. Boston was lucky to time the game and send it to overtime. This series is firmly in the control of the Canadiens, no doubt about it. The overtime goal really hurt this Boston team. Fighting back from a 2-0 deficit in Game 2 lifted the Bruins spirits but the overtime goal solitified what has been happening all year to Montreal, losing. Game 3 is critical for the Bruins. The cannot overcome a 3-0 deficit against Montreal. Boston is in a must win position, but they will come up short once again. Montreal is 5-0 in its last 5 games on the road against Boston. Things won't change much in this match up. Look for Montreal to pull out a close one, we like them on the road.

Game: New York Rangers at New Jersey Devils (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on New York Rangers -160 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 1.9)

What a series so far. A very closely fought match up between two great teams. The Rangers may be a bit lucky to have a 2-0 lead but they still have that pyschological advantage. The series moves back to Madison Square Garden where the crowd should be rockus. The stars for the Ranges have been great so far including Jaromir Jagr grabbing the game winner in game two. We expect this game to be a tight one but the crowd should make the difference in the end helping the Rangers pull it out. Take the Rangers over the Devils in this one.

Game: San Jose Sharks at Calgary Flames (10:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on San Jose Sharks -125 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.4)

San Jose got six penalty chances in a row for almost 10 minutes of power play time that resulted in one goal. Should Calgary be upset? Absolutely! However, the Sharks still came away with a win and will start to take control of the series tonight. The Sharks are 10-3 in their last 13 games on the road. Miikka Kiprusoff kept the score close in the last game at 2-0. Don't be fooled though, the Sharks are a bigger and better team. We like the Sharks on the road in this one tonight.
