Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Carolina at New Jersey (1:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Carolina +110 (moneyline) (risk 2 to win 2.2)

The Carolina Hurricanes are closing the season very strong. They have now won nine of their last 10 games, and 17 of their last 23, including their last two on the road. They have done it on both ends of the ice as they have outscored their opponents by a 2-1 ratio at 28-14 over their last eight games. New Jersey has kind of limped down the stretch as they have won just three of their last 10. The Hurricanes also boast a 20-7 mark against the East in their last 27, and have taken the last four meetings between these clubs. I'll back Carolina here.
Game: Philadelphia at New York Islanders (2:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Philadelphia -230 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 1.7)

The Philadelphia Flyers are simply a much better team than the New York Islanders. There is one unique thing about this Flyers team - they don't just show up for what should be the easy win and get caught. The Flyers are 12-2 as a favorite of -201 or more, which works out to 6-1 odds. Here we are in a game that looks like heavy chalk, but only posted at 2.3-1 odds. The Islanders have nothing to play for here, as their season has been a bust and this isn't the team they are going to snap out of it against, as the Flyers have completely dominated the Islanders to the tune of 12 wins in the last 13 meetings. The Flyers get another!

Game: Boston at Buffalo (4:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)

The Bruins have had a very good season, and a lot of it has to do with goaltending and defense. The Bruins have held teams to two goals or less an amazing 44 times this season. Recently, they have been doing even better as the opponent has gotten the puck in the net just nine times in the last five games. Buffalo and Ryan Miller have allowed just two goals in the last two games for the Sabres, who will be playing in their fourth game in six nights, a situation that has produced UNDERS in five of the last seven. The Bruins are at their defensive best against teams with a winning home record, where they are 41-10-3 to the UNDER in their last 54 games. I like this one to go UNDER the total.

Game: Ottawa at Toronto (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 6 +100 (risk 3 to win 3)
It hasn't been a great year for the Senators, but they have certainly closed strong. The Senators have won 13 of their last 19 games, and have allowed 28 goals in their last 11 games. The Maple Leafs have played nine of their last 12 games on home ice to the UNDER. Ottawa finds itself in their fourth game in six nights, and in the last four instances, all four finished UNDER the total. These teams haven't exactly burned up the nets in their last five meetings either, as four of the last five have also gone UNDER the total, so I will go with the UNDER in this one.
Game: Washington at Florida (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Washington +110 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.3)
The Capitals are playoff-ready, and their offense has been on fire of late. The Caps have won five of their last six and in the process, have scored four or more goals in all six games. They have tallied 28 goals in the six games, for 4.7 per contest. That 4.7 average certainly puts pressure on the Panthers, who have reached the five-goal mark just 11 times all season, and in their last four games, have scored just nine times, or just over two per game. The Caps are also 41-17 in their last 58 against the East, and have cashed in four of the last five vs. the Panthers. I'll go with Washington here.
Game: Anaheim at Phoenix (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Anaheim -110 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.7)

The Anaheim Ducks have really stepped it up on the road as they have not lost a road game since an overtime loss to Chicago back on March 3, and have taken six straight games. They have been a scoring machine as they have scored five or more goals in each of their last four road games, averaging nearly six per game. The Coyotes have managed just 47 goals in their last 20 games, or 2.3 per contest, and may be hard-pressed to match this Duck's team that is scoring in bunches. The Ducks are 10-2 in their last 12, and against Phoenix they have logged a 23-9-1 mark the last 33 times these teams have squared off. I am rolling with the Ducks in this one.

Game: Edmonton at Calgary (10:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 5 units on Edmonton +160 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 8)
Edmonton has been quite the antithesis of the typical sports team this season as they have put together a better road mark, than they have a home mark. Their last time on the ice they blitzed the Flames in easy fashion, winning 5-1. The Flames have been a very tough team all season, but there is one situation where they have struggled mightily, and that is coming back after playing the previous night where they are just 3-14. The Oilers have to be the confident team here with long odds, playing a Flames’ team in its most vulnerable spot. I will go with Edmonton here.

Results: 1-6

The Ottawa Senators have been pretty much a breakeven team all season, but that certainly hasn't been the case on home ice where they sport a 21-12-6 mark. Overall, they have been a hot team at 12...

We won with the Ducks last night at +150. Tonight however we'll fade them as I like the Sharks to exact some revenge on the road. San Jose has a shot at the President's Trophy and back-to-back...
