Nhl Pick - April 11, 2008
We hit big with Dallas yesterday as they shut-out Anaheim at +150 netting us +6 units. Today we like three games...
Today's NHL Hockey Picks:
Game: New York Rangers at New Jersey (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on New York Rangers +105 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 4.2)
New York laid the wood to New Jersey in game one and what we saw there was a preview at what should continue. New York just dominated and they look like the much more focused and better team. New Jersey's scoring problems (lowest scoring playoff team in the East) showed up and there's no reason to think things are going to change here. Henrik Lundqvist is saving 91.3% this season and is getting better. He's saved 92.5% vs. division foes and 94.6% in his last four games. The Rangers have allowed just 2.1 goals per game in their last eleven games and 1.8 per game over their last five. New Jersey is now averaging just 1.8 per game in their last five. The Rangers are now 13-4 in their last 17 vs. winning teams. New Jersey is now 13-20 vs. division opponents this season. After what we saw in game one, this is New York's series and we'll take them as road dogs here.
Game: Philadelphia at Washington (7:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Washington -150 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2)
It doesn't get any hotter than the Capitals. They grabbed the division title thanks to closing out the regular season with 11 wins out of their last 12 games. In their last four games, Washington won by a cumulative score of 14-3. Alex Ovechkin has been unstoppable. He led the league in points and goals and should take down the Hart. Martin Biron has been playing well, but Ovechkin is not to be denied right now. Washington is 21-11 vs. winning teams this season including 12-5 in their last 17 and we think they take down game one here with relative ease.
Game: Colorado at Minnesota (9:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Minnesota -135 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.2)
Colorado showed grit in pulling out the OT win in game one. We still still aren't sold on them being the better team in this series. When things return to Colorado they should have the edge. But, Minnesota knows this which makes this game nearly a must-win. Colorado is vulnerable on the road but very good at home. If Minnesota is going to stay in this series, they simply have to win this game. Colorado scored 2 goals in regulation in game one and their average is 2.5 per game on the road. Tonight, we don't think that will get it done and we'll back the Wild to even the series.
