We have nine premium picks today including a 5-unit picks and four 4-unit picks. We look to add to our monster two week NHL run that has us sitting pretty with 13 out of 14 winning days. Over the last two weeks, we have gone mad to the tune of 26-6 for 81% and +60 units.
![]() Today's NHL Hockey Picks: The Montreal Canadiens have allowed 3 goals or more in 11 of their last 19 games played on the road. The Islanders have suddenly gotten hot on the offensive end, scoring 3 or more in each of their last five games. That would lend credibility to scoring 3+ in this one. The Islanders, off of two days rest, have been at their offensive best leading to a 6-1 mark to the OVER in their last seven in this situation. Montreal has only stayed under the total once in their last seven as a road favorite. I like this one to go OVER the total.Game: Ottawa at Florida (7:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Game Total OVER 5 -145 (risk 4 to win 2.8) The Senators have been losing with regularity on the road as they have been leaking oil behind the net and on the defensive end of the ice. Other than a shutout vs. Montreal, the last six road games have seen 26 pucks slip through the nets, or 4.33 per contest - almost enough all alone to push this one over the total. The Florida Panthers have been a break-even team at home, where they have also struggled on the defensive end and behind the net. The Panthers have allowed 23 goals in their last six on home ice, or just about 4 per game. Its easy to see one of these teams hitting the 5 spot all by themselves, so I'm going with the OVER here.Game: Philadelphia at Toronto (7:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -111 (risk 3 to win 2.7) Game: New York Rangers at Buffalo (7:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Game Total OVER 5 -130 (risk 4 to win 3.1) The Buffalo Sabres have erupted on offense quite frequently lately. They have scored 6 or more goals three times in their last 10 games, 5 in another and averaging 3.7 per game along the way. The Rangers have been solid on the road, and have been explosive themselves, having won four of five on the current road trip, scoring 19 in the process, bringing their six-game total to 24, or 4 per contest. Both of these offenses are playing at a high level right now, and Buffalo is 6-1-2 to the OVER in their last nine off two days rest. Its hard to see this one finishing with the winner at less than 4 goals the way they have been scoring, so the value here is on the OVER, which is my call.Game: Washington at Pittsburgh (7:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 5 units on Pittsburgh -150 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 3.3) Can the Capitals sweep the Penguins this year? I don't think so. The Penguins are already in the playoffs, but their position is still to be determined. They are tied with New Jersey for first place so every game is critical. Sidney Crosby is coming on strong as this team heads toward the playoffs, leading the NHL in goals (47). The Capitals are great, but they allow 3.0 goals per game on the road. With Pittsburgh averaging 3.4 per game at home, this is a tough out for Washington. I like Pittsburgh to get the needed win here.Game: Carolina at Tampa Bay (7:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Carolina -110 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 3.6) The Carolina Hurricanes survived a horrible start that included a 14-game winless streak as well as coming out on the right side of just seven of their first 32 games. They have been dramatically better since, having now come out on the right side of 18 of their last 29. Tampa Bay has begun to match the Canes early-season futility as the Lightning have now come out on the right side of just five of their last 20. What makes matters worse here is the fact that the Hurricanes have taken nine of the last 12 games in this series, and are playing at a much higher level right now. I'll go with Carolina in this one.Game: Washington at Pittsburgh (7:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Pittsburgh -1.5 goals +200 (puckline) (risk 2 to win 4) Can Pittsburgh win this game by 2+ goals? Yes they can. The Penguins have won three of their last four and they desperately want this game. They don't want to be swept by Washington, and every win here is critical in their race for first place. At home, this Penguins team is very good, especially against good offensive opponents. In post-All Star play, they have won 41 of 55 games the past three seasons vs. teams that average 30+ shots on goal per game. When playing with 2+ days rest, they are 29-12 since last season. When facing a team at home that has beaten them two times in a row, Pittsburgh is 15-3 the past three seasons. I like Pitt's chances here at a big statement win.Game: Chicago at Dallas (8:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Chicago -150 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 +110 (risk 3 to win 3.3) The Blackhawks have played at a high level all season, except for a recent slump that saw them end up on the right side of two of nine games. They have rebounded to play at their expected high level, winners of three straight. The difference is Antti Niemi and solid defense that has allowed just 2 goals in the last three games (less than 1 per contest). The Stars have been good at home, but not recently with 60% of their last 10 here finishing on the losing side. They have only allowed 17 goals in their last eight games, but a lack of offense has led to just a split of the eight games. Chicago is impossible to beat when they get a hot hand behind the net as they have now, so I'll go with Chicago and the UNDER in this one. Results: 6-3 ![]() NHL Hockey Picks Resources:
