Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: New York Rangers at Boston (1:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -140 (risk 3 to win 2.1)

The Boston Bruins have been solid at home all season with just six losses, and goaltending as well as defense have played a significant role in their success on home ice. The Bruins have held 22 opponents to two goals or less here, and the last three have left tallying one goal apiece. It has led them to playing UNDER in each of their last five home games. The Rangers may not be at their offensive best, as they are 7-3 to the UNDER after scoring two goals or less in their last game. These teams have also had a history of low-scoring contests, with four of the last five going UNDER as well. I'll play this one to go UNDER the total.

Game: New Jersey at Buffalo (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)

The New Jersey Devils have had a tough time putting the puck in the net lately. Outside of a five-goal outburst against hapless Tampa Bay, the Devils have managed just seven goals in their previous six games. They have also played UNDER to a mark of 17-9 in their last 26 games. They also have an elongated history of playing UNDER against the Northeast, where they have amassed a 38-17-5 mark to the UNDER in their last 60. Buffalo has also been 9-4-1 to the UNDER in their last 14 as a favorite, and these teams have played UNDER to an 11-3-1 mark in their last 15 meetings. I'm going with the UNDER in this one.

Game: Tampa Bay at New York Islanders (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 5 units on New York Islanders -160 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 3.1)
The season has been a long one for the Tampa Bay Lightning. As it winds down, there have been no signs of life. The Lightning has now dropped five in a row and eight of their last nine, and has been out-scored 33-20 in the process. They have managed to record just three wins in their last 15 attempts on the road. The Islanders recent performance isn't much better, but the fact that eight of their last 11 have been on the road, gives them a bit of an out. What the Islanders have been able to do is beat the bad teams, as they are 16-5 in their last 21 as a favorite of -151 to -200. The Lightning is 56-124-16 against a team with a losing home record. That is enough to cast a vote of confidence on the Islanders in this one.
Game: St. Louis at Dallas (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -125 (risk 3 to win 2.4)

The Dallas Stars are not going to go down as an offensive team when this season is over, and their recent performance over their last 26 games will attest to that. The Stars have put the puck in the net just 56 times. That is barely above two per game. They have also now played to a 14-5-1 mark to the UNDER in their last 20 games played at home. They face the St. Louis Blues who scored five in their last game, but in their next game after scoring 5+, they have played five in a row to the UNDER. The last 14 times these teams have met in Dallas the under has gone 9-4-1 and I don't see a reason for change. The UNDER gets the call in this game.

Game: Anaheim at San Jose (10:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Anaheim +150 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4.5)

The Shark Tank was a big deep pit for all opponents early in the season, but things have changed some. San Jose was 20-0-2 in their first 22 games here, but has since lost three and a couple of others in shootouts. Anaheim has been one of the top road teams in the NHL, and is second to the Red Wings in the West in terms of road wins. The Ducks have not lost on the road for over a month, and are certainly a live dog in this one. Sharks’ backers must take notice of their 1-4 mark in their last five against teams with a winning record. I like the live dog in this one, so Anaheim gets the call.

Results: 4-1

The Phoenix Coyotes went through a horrible 21-game stretch that saw them go just 4-17. They have bounced back nicely as they have now won five of eight, and three of their last four. They have also w...

The Phoenix Coyotes have been a mess since the end of January. This team basically played a respectable .500 hockey up until that point, but since then have been an awful 7-20. The problem has been sc...
