Wunderdog 40% Bonus from Diamond Sports ![]() Today's NFL Football Picks: The Titans have been able to do nothing in the air so far this preseason and the numbers for Vince Young are just plain ugly. He has a 45.3 passer rating which is about as bad as it gets for a starter. On top of that Kerry Collins was 4-15 last week completing just 27% of his throws. The Atlanta offense hasn't exactly been firing on all cylinders either. THe Falcons have mustered all of 26 points in their first two games. They could not get in the end-zone in week one vs. the Colts, and managed only 17 points vs. Jacksonville last week. That 17 points came despite the the Jags fumbling three times - resulting in just 3 Atlanta points. We have a system that applies here involving offensively inept teams that is 16-4 UNDER the past four seasons. It all points to a low-scoring game. Game: Houston at Dallas (Friday 8/22 8:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Houston +5.5 (-110) (risk 2 to win 1.8) This will be the first appearance for the Cowboys at home since their disappointing playoff loss at the hands of the Giants. Thus far in the preseason, Dallas has played like a team that is content with their current situation. They appear to just want to get out of the preseason without anything major happening. While the Cowboys starters have been getting light duty, the second unit has been getting crushed as they have been outscored 54 to 30 so far. The prospects are the starters will pay the first half here, but this line is more reflective of starters for the entire game. The fact remains that this preseason, Houston is playing MUCH better and more hungrily than Dallas, yet they are getting significant points. Houston is 2-0 in large part to near-perfection by QB Matt Schaub, who continues to improve game by game. He will enter with a 141.7 QB rating. Gary Kubiak has led the Texans to a 7-3 ATS preseason mark in his tenure. The way Schaub is playing, and the way the Cowboys are not showing up, we will ride the overlay and take the dog here as we expect the Texans to at least stay close. Game: Green Bay at Denver (Friday 8/22 9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Green Bay +3 (-120) (risk 2 to win 1.7) Pick: 2 units on Game Total UNDER 37.5 -110 This will be a true dress rehersal for Aaron Rodgers as he should be take a lot of snaps. Rodgers looked sharp ealy in game one, but struggled last week. He should have the full forces of his offensive line here, which gave up very few sacks last year. Rodgers has gone down six times in two games thus far, but look for that to change here. One of the most underrated positions on the field is that of the center, and the Broncos will be without theirs in this one as Tom Nalen underwent knee surgery this week. The Denver running game has done nothing so far, and that will put a lot of pressure on the young Jay Cutler, who is susceptible to making bad decisions under pressure. The Packers offense has not been prolific once Rodgers steps off the field, and even with him they produced six points last week total. They'll have success here but it won't be unbridaled. The Packers gave up a lot of points last week, but mostly on big plays and a punt return. Teams that don't get in the end-zone in the preseason usually follow up with a strong performance the following week as the offense is motivated to atone for a terrible showing (yes, emotions and motivation come into play even in the preseason). Green Bay didn't show up last week and we expect that to motivate them this week. Combine that with the fact that this week will see the most signficant action from the starters from a team that went 13-3 last season, playing a 7-9 team, and we have a live dog in play. We expect the Packer first team defensive unit to play a lot here. We like the Pack and the UNDER. Results: 3-1 ![]() NFL Football Picks Resources:
