Today's NCAA Football Picks:
Game: Navy at Northern Illinois (Tuesday 11/25 7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 52 -110
Northern Illinois will enter this one with the No. 21 ranked defense in the country allowing just 18.3 ppg. The fact that Navy will provide a one-dimensional attack should allow the Huskies to stack the box with eight or even nine to stop the Navy’s triple option. Navy will keep the clock moving almost every time they have the ball as they throw the ball less than 10 times a game. Offensively the Huskies rank in the bottom third of all NCAA teams and have difficulty sustaining drives. The Huskie defense thrives at home, and has played 17-4 UNDER in their last 21 home games including 9-1-1 UNDER in their last eleven. Meanwhile, the Navy’s triple option has been grounded on turf as they have played 7-1 UNDER in their last eight. I like this one to go UNDER the total.
Game: Western Michigan at Ball State (Tuesday 11/25 7:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 55 -110
Ball State will continue their quest to finish unbeaten as they face Western Michigan at home in their MAC finale. The Cards get a lot of ink on the offensive side of the ball, but very little is noted about their defense. The Cardinals' defense has only allowed 16.3 points per game against MAC teams this season. The Western Michigan Broncos are also characterized by a potent offense. After opening the season allowing 101 points in their first three games, the defense has gone on to allow just 17.5 ppg in their last eight. Their last three have been their best defensive efforts of the season allowing 44 total points or 14.7 ppg, with no one scoring more than 17. Although the offenses get the print, both of these defenses are out-playing the offenses, so I'll play this one to go UNDER the total.
Results: 1-1
