The San Francisco Dons may be holding up the rear of the West Coast Conference this season. Outside of Lowhorn and Vaughn, the talent level here drops off fast and the Dons, who finished last year with just 10 wins, may struggle to top that number this year. USCB will be in a different position and likely playing at or near the top of the Big West Conference. The team has talent, depth, and defenders that will handle the two legit scorers for the Dons, and that should make the Dons hard pressed to keep up. Their 7-22-1 ATS mark vs. the Big West says that they have been over-matched, and they will be again in this one. Santa Barbara gets the call.
Game: San Diego State at Fresno State (10:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on San Diego State -3 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The San Diego State Aztecs made a run all the way to the NIT semifinals last year. It was a record-setting year with 26 wins. The Aztecs are once again the odds-on favorite to win the Mountain West and hopefully an NCAA Tournament bid that they were shunned of a year ago. Fresno State is expected to finish at or near the bottom of the WAC, and their start may be revealing the truth of those expectations. The Bulldogs lost to Seattle on the road. Seattle is an independent, the lowest rung on the NCAAB ladder of Div-1 teams. The Aztecs have dominated the WAC where they are 6-0 ATS in their last six while the Bulldogs are 1-6 ATS against the Mountain West. I'll go with San Diego State in this one.
