Game: Xavier at U C L A (6:40 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on U C L A -300 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 1.3)
UCLA is on a mission. They aren't playing blow-out basketball, squeaking by Texas A&M and Western Kentucky in the pat two rounds. But as they have done all season, they just find a way to win. We are not ready to lay 6 or 7 points on this team, but we'll back their heart and ability to win with a strong moneyline play. Xavier has been impressive but they will meet their match tonight. They have set a new school record for season wins at 30 but they have reached their pinnacle. UCLA is 18-1 this season on the road, holding opponents to 59.6 ppg. In the tourney they are allowing just 52 per game (compared to 71.3 for Xavier). Under Ben Howland, this team is 19-3 straight-up after winning a game as a favorite but failing to cover the spread. Howland's teams are also 16-1 SU as a neutral court favorite! The last two seasons UCLA is 21-1 SU after a game in which they failed to cover the spread.
