![]() Today's NCAA Basketball Picks: The Butler Bulldogs have shown the nation that they can compete with anyone. They took down Syracuse, but it was what happened late that proves the mental toughness of this team. They opened a 10-point lead at the half, and I think that most knew Syracuse was going to make a run. The Cuse really turned things up, grabbing a 4-point lead late and it appeared that the Bulldogs were finished. Instead of rolling over, they took charge and reclaimed the lead and went on to advance. Kansas State took two overtimes to survive vs. a tough Xavier team. That game had to be physically draining, with three players on the floor for 40+ minutes. The Bulldogs deliver as a dog at 22-7 ATS in their last 29, and I like them in this one.Game: Butler vs. Kansas State (4:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Butler +160 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4.8) If there was any doubt that the Butler Bulldogs are for real, they erased that against Syracuse. They could have wilted against a superior team down the stretch, when the Cuse came back to claim a 4-point lead late, but instead they reached down for more and claimed the win. They will be a confident group on the floor today. Kansas State needed two overtimes to survive that saw three players log 40+ minutes, and that could be telling down the stretch. Butler has proven it won't wilt, and they may be the team with a little extra in the last three minutes. I'll go with Butler here.Game: West Virginia vs. Kentucky (7:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Kentucky -4 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7) The West Virginia Mountaineers survived vs. Washington despite losing the services of PG Darryl Bryant for the remainder of the season. They will have a much more difficult task in front of them today. Joe Mazzulla took over at the point, and his grade was very low. The Mountaineers made 23 turnovers and appeared lost at the offensive end. Mazzulla finished with 3 points on 1-8 shooting, 4 assists and 4 turnovers. These kinds of numbers may have been enough vs. Washington, but won’t be enough vs. Kentucky. The Wildcats are athletic, and talented, and their youth is playing like seasoned veterans. The Wildcats are playing at a high level and covering all three tournament games with an average winning margin of 25.3 points per game. I don't think a healthy Mountaineers team could stay in this one, let alone one which lost their playmaker. I'll go with Kentucky here. Results: 2-1 ![]() NCAA Basketball Picks Resources:
