Ncaa College Basketball Predictions - March 06, 2008
We hit another moneyline dog with Georgia last night which helped us out but we still had a losing night at 3-4-1. We remain at the 56% mark over the past two and a half months. Tonight we have four picks.
Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:
Game: George Washington at N C Charlotte (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on N C Charlotte -9 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Saint Bonaventure has won just eight games all season, and the teams they beat are pretty much at the bottom of the barrel. The reason we mention this, is George Washington has played 12 road games and that is their only win. The other 11 have all resulted in double-digit losses. Charlotte has had some impressive games at home this season and has covered five of their last six conference hook ups. The home resume includes a two-point loss to Xavier, a four-point loss to Maryland, and wins over Southern Illinois, Wake Forest, and Davidson. George Washington is being out-scored on the road 78-61 in 12 games, and has just one player in their top eight scorers shooting over 43%. They have no player averaging more than two assists per game resulting in 349 turnovers to 293 assist. Should be a double-digit win for Charlotte.
Game: Michigan State at Illinois (9:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Michigan State -2.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The picture is very clear for the Illini this season. They are having a poor year and can't play with the top of the conference. Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State and Wisconsin are the hopeful NCAA tourney reps from the Big-10, and the only five teams with winning records in the conference. Illinois has gone 0-9 SU against this group on the season including 0-4 at home and 0-4 ATS at home. Michigan State is light years better than this Illinois team, and we expect them to come away with the win in this one.
Game: Utah State at Boise State (9:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Boise State -4.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Utah State is impressive overall and the reason is a 17-0 home mark. They are just 3-8 SU on the road as well as 3-8 ATS. The three wins are against CS Bakersfield (8-21), La Tech (4-23) and Fresno State (13-15). Good teams they have played out of their building? They lost by 24 to Utah, Vanderbilt was a 21-point loss and lost to New Mexico State by 30. Boise State is the best shooting team in the country at 51%, and in the top 25 in knocking down 3's. Utah State has not defended 3's well all season. They give up 63 points per game at home with only one team reaching 80 and two others reaching 70. The road shows them as completely different, as teams average nearly 75! They are 2-10 ATS when they give up 70+, 9-3 ATS when they give up less. The Broncos scored 78 at Utah State, and have not been held to under 70 the entire season! This is a revenge game, and we see a double-digit win for Boise State.
Game: Xavier at Saint Josephs (9:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Xavier -2 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)
Xavier has won 11 straight and get a struggling Saint Joe's team here. The Hawks have lost five of their last seven. The big difference is, of course, defense. Xavier has held conference foes to 61.7 ppg while St. Joe's is allowing 72.2 per game. That's a monster difference and will play out here tonight. It's the main reason Xavier is 13-1 in conference play while Joe's is just 8-6. Yet we have to lay a very small line here. Take the Muskateers as they will roll.
