Ncaa Basketball Tournament Picks - March 03, 2008
Despite a 2-3 mark our moneyline win with Providence at +180 kept the loss down to -0.6 units. Tonight we have three picks as well as our weekly Bracket Racket feature.
Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:
Game: Fresno State at Utah State (9:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Utah State -8.5 (-110) (risk 2 to win 1.8)
Pick: 2 units on Game Total OVER 140.5 -110 (risk 2 to win 1.8)
If you've faded Fresno State this season, your putting funds in your account on a regular basis. The Bulldogs are on a nine game ATS losing streak, and 11 of 12 as well. Utah State has been one of the strongest home teams in the nation over the last decade, as they have put together a 130-8 home record! That includes 31-1 in their last 32. The lone loss? Fresno State. That gives some extra motivation to Utah State and we expect their "A" game here. Although they have been mediocre when favored by double-digits, just 33-33 ATS, they have been lights out when they are not a double-digit home favorite, logging a very profitable 25-9 mark, good for 73.5%! They have also been very crisp after winning by 20+, as they are 30-14 ATS following the big win. These teams have met in conference play on five occasions, and have toppled the total posted by an average of 22 ppg! Utah State is 25-10 to the over in their last 35 WAC conference games as well, and 23-5 to the over following a SU win. Fresno State has played five games vs teams with a record of .600+, and all five have gone OVER, so we like the Aggies to cover and the OVER as well.

The Gaels lost at Gonzaga on Saturday, and now need to win the conference tournament, or gain an at-large bid. That means there is no fooling around with this game, as each additional win just builds the resume. Portland has been a disaster vs the good teams on their schedule. They have met Gonzaga twice, St. Mary's, BYU and Oregon. The results aren't pretty. They have lost all five ATS, and have come no closer than 22! They have allowed 51.8% shooting and 40% from three in these games, as well as getting torched on the boards 38.2 - 25.8. That's a 13 per game difference. They have shot just 35.5% and 25.8% from three. The Pilots have managed just two covers in their last 12 games, and have basically packed it in. St. Mary's wins here big.
