Game: Delaware vs. Northeastern (2:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Delaware +8.5
Not sure if a team of Northeastern's stature should be favored by this much on a neutral court. They won twice against Delaware by nine points each time. A closer look at those games shows Northeastern had to shoot 49% from the floor and 42% from three-point range to win by nine in one game. The other game they shot even better hitting 50% from the floor, 41% from three-point land, and a blistering 87% from the line. It took a couple of huge games by Northeastern to win by nine points in each case, so the prudent move is to back Delaware in this one.
Game: Austin Peay vs. Samford (6:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Samford +2.5
Austin Peay has struggled lately losing three of their last four games. Yesterday they had to go to OT to avoid the loss against 20-game loser Tennessee State. Samford lost to Murray at home, but came back to beat them soundly yesterday by 10 points. Austin Peay's problems have been on the defensive end. They have given up 75-points per game (PPG) over their last four. They had not allowed 75 points in a non-OT game in the league all season prior to this. Samford has been just the opposite. They had scored 65+ points in just four league games all year, but have reached that number now in four straight games, while averaging nearly 70 points. Look for Samford in the mild upset.
Game: Canisius vs. Saint Peter's (7:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Canisius -3
Hard to imagine St. Peter's staying in this one. They have managed just five wins all season, and four of the teams they beat are Iona twice, NJ Tech, and MD Baltimore County. Throwing out the Iona games, they are 0-19 in their last 21 games. Canisius isn't exactly a high-caliber program, but they beat Niagara, and Marist, which St. Peter's was blown out by high double digits in three of the four games.
Game: Pepperdine vs. San Diego (8:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 160 -110
These teams played one high-scoring game during the season and one low-scoring affair. The difference here is Pepperdine. They started the season scoring 90+ points in 7 of 15 games. They have averaged just 70-ppg over their last 14 games, and this total is based on a lot of those early games. We have a trend that says to play to the UNDER in a neutral court game when a team that allows 77+ points a game (Pepperdine), gave up 80+ points in its last game. These games have gone 31-8 to the UNDER! Pepperdine themselves give credence to this trend, as they have been 7-1 UNDER after allowing 80+ points.
Game: Loyola Marymount at Portland (11:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 128.5 -110
These teams will meet for the third time this season tonight. The prior two games saw an average of 140 points scored, with the lower of the two game totals being 133 points. Last year these teams both topped the 130 mark as well. Portland games have averaged 137 points at home this year, while Loyola Marymount has had the exact same average on the road of 137 points! Portland has also played 19 of 28 conference home games over the total, and when revenging a loss of 10+ points to an opponent, has gone OVER in 10 of 12. We will play the OVER in this one.
