![]() Today's NCAA Basketball Picks: The Drexel Dragons are down this year as are the Hofstra Pride. Drexel is just 2-4-1 ATS in their last 7 in the role of a favorite. They have struggled to find a consistent scorer behind Jamie Harris as he is the only Dragon providing double-digits on the season, and they simply have no one to keep the defenses honest that can also consistently hit 3's so this team goes through offensive droughts. The Pride has lost six of their last seven, but has fared well in the role of a dog where they are 3-2 ATS in their last five. They will have the best player on the floor for this one in Charlie Jenkins, so I like Hofstra in this one.Game: Hofstra at Drexel (12:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Hofstra +240 (moneyline) (risk 2 to win 4.8) I really think this game is an even matchup, and that makes me like Hofstra on the moneyline. Down the stretch in a tight game, they will have the guy that can take a game over and win it in Charlie Jenkins. The Pride has excelled on the road vs. very good teams as they are 15-4-2 ATS vs. teams that are .600+ at home. I'll play Hofstra on the moneyline.Game: Villanova at St. John's (12:10 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Villanova -6 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6) I think many have noticed that St. John's is a vastly improved team from a year ago, especially getting Mason Jr. back. What is forgotten is just how improved this Villanova team is as well because they were so good last year. They have played some tough teams but have emerged as a 17-1 team, and are poised to be a Final Four contender. St. John's, as much as they have improved, will have a tough time even making it to the bubble in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats not only have a star in Scottie Reynolds, they have four other 10+ point scorers, so if he is doubled, the options just simply out-weigh what St. John's can do here. I like the Wildcats in this one.Game: East Carolina at Southern Mississippi (5:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on East Carolina +11.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Golden Eagles really went soft in the early going winning three of their first five games vs. non-Div1 competition, and claimed their fourth a bit later. That is four automatic wins tacked on to a team that is 10-8 on the season. The real record is 6-8 when you get right to it, so they are over-valued in this one by quite a bit. East Carolina hasn't been knocking down the wins, but that isn't what matters here. What does matter is that they are 5-1 ATS when posted as a double-digit dog, and I think they are a "false" double-digit dog here because Southern Miss has a very suspect record. The Golden Eagles aren't exactly taking it out on teams with a winning percentage of .400 or less as they are just 0-5 ATS in their last fivr. I'll go with the overlay here, and play on East Carolina.Game: Nebraska at Missouri (6:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Missouri -13 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Big-12 has been a showcase for the home court thus far in the 2009-10 NCAAB season. The Big-12 stands at 123-6 at home, with the top eight teams at a stunning 84-0. Missouri has been pounding teams at home winning 12 of their 13 here by 13 or more points. The Cornhuskers were looking good until the real schedule started in the Big-12, and they are now 0-3 in conference play despite having two of the three at home. The Huskers have long standing issues on the road at just 18-38-1 ATS in their last 57 roadies, while Mizzou continues the home domination at 20-6 ATS in their last 26 at home. I'll go with Missouri here.Game: North Carolina State at Maryland (6:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 146.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) Both of these teams can score and they have gone a combined 16-8 to the OVER. That leads to the public pushing the total up and we look to the other side for value. Let's not forget that Maryland can also play great defense. They've allowed 65 points per game on the season (63.5 per game at home). In conference play, their high-flying offense has been brought down a bit to 77 ppg. Everyone expects this game to fly OVER and that's when we need to look the other way as things aren't that easy. Play this one UNDER the total.Game: Cornell at Columbia (7:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Cornell -12.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7) Game: Tennessee Martin at Eastern Illinois (7:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Eastern Illinois -11.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
