Ncaa Predictions - January 15, 2010
We gave back four units last night as we finished 1-2. Today we hit the floor with a pair of premium CBB picks as we are in the midst of a great six-week run. During that time we have gone 100-68 (60%) for +95 units.

Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:
Game: Marist at Loyola, Maryland (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Loyola, Maryland -14 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Marist is following in the footsteps of Iona as the Gaels won just two games back in ‘06-‘07, and the Red Foxes are heading in the same direction with just one in the win column so far on the season. It is hard to imagine a team on a three game home stand that came away short of victory by no less than 15 points in any of the three, with an average losing margin of 19 points per game, is suddenly going to find answers on the road. The Red Foxes sport six of their top seven scorers shooting 34% or less, so offensive droughts are inevitable here, and they don't have a single player averaging 10+ points. It's a lot of wood to lay, but well in reach with this team especially with Marist going 1-7 ATS in their last eight vs. Loyola, including 0-4 ATS on the road. I'll ride with Loyola, Maryland in this one.
Game: Loyola, Illinois at Illinois, Chicago (9:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Loyola, Illinois +1 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Ramblers come into this one at 11-5 which certainly is above expectations from this team. They have shared the wealth with six players all averaging between 6-12 points per night, all capable of a 10+ performance, so it will be hard to key-in on any one player. The Flames have really struggled and own just four wins vs. Div-1 competition. The biggest problem is their inability to put the ball in the hoop, with five of their top seven scorers connecting on 41% or less. They also have no one to stretch the defense as the same group in the top seven scorers shows not a single player hitting better than 31% from deep. Sagging defenses make for a lot of empty trips, and the offense is generating less than 10 assists a game. The Ramblers have always been the talent-shy team in this matchup, but now they have the edge and I'll go with Loyola, Illinois here.
Results: 1-1

I like Kansas State and Illinois to each win their games outright. Putting them together in a two-team moneyline parlay gets us reasonable odds. The No. 13 ranked Wildcats lost their first game in sev...
