Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:
Game: Loyola Maryland at Fairfield (9:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Loyola Maryland +9 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Fairfield has gotten off on the fast track at 10-4, including a perfect 6-0 mark at home. Unfortunately for the Stags there is not a quality win in the stack of 10. This one looks to be an overlay here in a gym that doesn't offer much of a home-court advantage as less than 2,000 fans turned out for their last one. The Greyhounds are the more tested team here with games vs. Siena, Indiana and West Virginia. They won the game at Indiana so I don't see the Stags in a better position than the Hoosiers where the Greyhounds were just a 7.5 point dog. The Greyhounds have been good on the road as a dog where they have cashed to a 41-19-1 ATS mark in their last 61. That includes failing to cover just one time in their last five visits to Fairfield. I'll go with Loyola here.
Game: Washington at Arizona State (10:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 5 units on Arizona State -180 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 2.8)
The Washington Huskies were supposed to be the top team in the Pac-10 which is down a bit this season, but early tests vs. Texas Tech and Georgetown resulted in losses. Then stumbling at home vs. Oregon makes one rethink the label on this team. That rings even more true when you consider that the only time they have stepped on the court in an opponent’s gym all season was at Texas Tech. The Huskies have been severely playing under the line, adding credence to the fact that this team is performing below the level of what many expected. The Huskies have been bad agaisnt the spread, entering this one at just 2-9 ATS. With the departure of Penergraph and Glaser, the Sun Devils were supposed to have a difficult time duplicating last season, but have been better than advertised. At home they have been especially superb where they are 9-1, dropping their only game to a one loss Baylor team. This one could be tight, and with the Huskies having played under expectations, without any significant time on the road, I'll go with Arizona St. on the moneyline here.
