Basketball Gambling Ncaa Pick - January 05, 2009

We finished 2-1 yesterday on the college hardwood, good for +1.4 units. We are hitting 60% over the last five days and look to keep our run going with two more CBB premium picks.

Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:

Game: Western Kentucky at Mississippi State (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Western Kentucky +7.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)

The Hilltoppers have lost 35 points per game scoring from their backcourt, but have come up strong with big 14 point win over Louisville. They also handled a very good Arkansas-Little Rock team that was expected to challenge them in the Sun Belt, crushing them by 32. These teams have played evenly in the four games they have met. The Hilltoppers have four double-digit scorers, and turned Arkansas-Little Rock over 28 times in their blowout win. Jarvis Vernado gets most of the ink for the Bulldogs with his shot-blocking presence as he has redirected 81 on the season. The Hilltoppers may not be as effected, as they are more of a 15-feet-and-out type of offense as their top four scorers are guard/forward type players. The Bulldogs are missing the cash as 7-12 point home chalk at 1-6 ATS in their last seven. Meanwhile, the Hilltoppers have been a cash cow in out-of-conference tilts at 40-16-1 ATS last 57. The Hilltoppers get the call here.

The Matadors have displayed an inconsistent offense where they have scored 90 points twice, but have also been held to the 40s and 50s in two other games. That may be due to the fact that their leading scorer shoots just 39% from the floor and have another starter connecting at just 35%. There are bigger problems however, as they have commited 230 turnovers in their 12 games, or close to 20 a game - so many empty trips. The Aggies have not shown to be explosive as 10 of their 13 games show 76 points or less and have turnover issues themselves, commiting 201 already on the season. This is a pretty lofty total for two teams that have consistently lost so many possessions a game on turnovers, so I'm playing this one to go UNDER the total.
