Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:
Game: Georgetown at Depaul (2:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Game Total OVER 122 -110 (risk 4 to win 3.6)
Two excellent defenses clash here and thus we see a low total of 122. But the Hoyas’ defense has shown signs of being mediocre. Against non-conference teams in games that weren't even lined, the Hoyas kept foes down. But once they started facing decent teams, their defense has been average. In their first five games (only one lined), Georgetown held opponents to 52.2 points per game. But, over the past five games, they are giving up 64.2 per game. DePaul has already given up 65+ points in five games this season, despite having a handful of real cupcakes on their schedule (Columbia, Detroit, American, Texas State and Florida Gulf Western). The bottom line is that the defensive stats are skewed. While they are good, they aren't this good. DePaul is 11-3 OVER the past three seasons at home vs. teams that allow 42% or worse shooting. I like this one to go OVER the total.
Game: U T E P at Texas Tech (3:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Game Total UNDER 154.5 -110 (risk 4 to win 3.6)
Texas Tech started off 9-0 but they have found it tougher over their last four games, losing two of them. UTEP comes in at 9-2 so this should be a very good game. I expect defense to play a bigger role than most expect here. Both teams know this game is important (the Red Raiders will drop out of the Top 25 with a loss) and as a result, I look for intense defense. Both of these teams are capable of good defense. The Miners have held six of their 11 opponents under 60 points and Tech has averaged just 67 points per game allowed at home. I think this total is a bit too high.

These two teams are spoiled along with their fans, as the winning has come with high frequency the last several years. Both these programs have taken hits via the early exit to the NBA and although th...

Two undefeated Top 10 teams collide here in West Lafayette. I think these teams are very close and I really like the Mountaineers getting more than two baskets. Purdue has lost three straight ATS and ...

The Privateers appear to be a good home club, dropping just one, but their schedule is extremely weak with two wins coming against teams below Div-1, and the other two vs. Houston Baptist and Texas St...
