![]() Today's NCAA Basketball Picks: These two teams are spoiled along with their fans, as the winning has come with high frequency the last several years. Both these programs have taken hits via the early exit to the NBA and although the talent pool is still strong experience is missing, and it has hit UCLA harder than Zona. The Wildcats have played a much more difficult schedule, and handled the softer teams, but the same can not be said for the Bruins who have already lost to Cal St. Fullerton at home, and Portland on a neutral court. Needless to say, this isn't a very good representative Bruin team. The Cats might be down to, but they have more left than the Bruins, and this one could go either way, so the points are big here, and I'll go with Arizona.Game: Oklahoma State at Rhode Island (2:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 158 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) The upstart Rams are piling it on at 10-1 and have scored 80+ in six of their last seven and look to be an up-tempo machine coming in. That will not be the case here vs. a Cowboys team that can "D" up with the best of them as just one time in 13 games has an opponent topped the 70-point mark, the Rams won't find the 80s here. The Cowboys’ "D" is surprising out-of conference foes leading to eight of their last 10 failing to top the total. The Rams are digging in as they are 6-1 to the UNDER after an ATS loss. This one falls short of the total. UNDER is the play.Game: Va Commonweath + Tulsa + Washington + E. Illinois at Parlay (2:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 5 units on Parlay +155 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 7.8) I really like these four teams to get outright wins. Putting them together in a moneyline parlay gives us great odds of +155. Take all four on the moneyline in a four-team paray.Game: Louisville at Kentucky (3:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Kentucky -7 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Wildcats remain unbeaten and are beginning to wear the signature of their coach, who is very motivating and demanding. He is getting a lot out of a blend of experience and youth. The Wildcats’ offense is getting scary as they have been in the mid 80s or better in each of their last five games. Louisville has talent, but lost a lot to graduation and the draft, and isn't quite at the level they were a year ago. The Cats are punishing Big East teams to the tune of 12-3-1 ATS. The Cardinals have only played one true road game all season, so this one is going to really be tough with young players in key roles. I'm backing Kentucky here.Game: Wright State at Illinois Chicago (4:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 123.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) Wright State has played excellent defense at home (52 points per game), but on the road they have allowed 66.5 per game. And, this team can score. Illinois Chicago can't score on the road, but at home they are decent (66 per game). In all games he has coached, Brad Brownell is 31-16 OVER when his team is facing a very good defense (those allowing 42% or worse shooting). Under Jimmy Collins, Illinois Chicago is 40-26 OVER in home games. I like this one to go OVER.Game: Kansas at Temple (5:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Kansas -6 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Temple Owls have made a good showing and are certainly playing above where most thought they would be to this point, but Kansas is another story. The Jayhawks have two bona fide All-Americans in Collins and Aldridge, and now Xavier Henry has stepped up as the leading scorer. The bottom line is that they create mismatches on both ends, and are hard to play. The Jayhawks aren't shy on the road (too much experience), and are now 12-2 ATS in their last 14 when travelling. Kansas has too many answers as they shake the Owls in the second half here. I'll go with Kansas in this one.Game: Towson State at Georgia State (6:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Georgia State -8 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Towson Tigers are really going to struggle this season. They have won just three and lost recently to both Bowling Green and Morgan State. That doesn't bode well for them here as they are already 0-3 on the road. Georgia State does not have any eye-opening wins, but they are winning the games they should and winning at home where they are 4-0. That is the difference right now and Towson goes into the category of “winning when you should” for Georgia State. The Panthers are now 21-8 ATS vs. .400 or less teams, so they do get it done in this spot. I'll go with Georgia State here.Game: Denver at Troy (8:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Troy -3.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Denver Pioneers have gotten out of the gate quickly, but looking close they have dined on a lot of home cooking where they are 9-1. Take them off their home court and this team becomes ordinary at 1-3 and has failed to cover a single game. Troy is getting it done at home with just one blemish and this is a team that can score, which is what it takes vs. an offensively competent Pioneer team. The Pioneers do well in the land of the cupcakes on their home floor, but put them vs. a team with a winning record and they are 0-5 ATS. I like Troy in this one.Game: Austin Peay at Morehead State (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Austin Peay +5.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6) The Governors are a bit under the radar at 8-6, especially when you consider five losses against Missouri, Tennessee, North Carolina State, Drake and Kentucky. The bottom line is that they have played well over their head, but have handled teams of their ilk, and they get another shot here vs. the Morehead State Eagles who are very shy on impressive or meaningful wins and have struggled at or above their level, and will meet a team that has the edge in talent in this one. The Governors are a perfect 6-0 ATS in their last six as a dog, and 18-7-1 ATS last 26 on the road. This dog has a bite, so I'm going with Austin Peay here. Results: 7-2 ![]() NCAA Basketball Picks Resources:
