A dissapointing 1-2 finish to our college basketball selections last night. Despite the losses the past few days, we're still hitting 62% (34-21) over the last three weeks. Five plays today.

Game: S. Illinois at Indiana St. (7:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Game Total OVER 110 -110
Both of these teams average 63-points per game (PPG). The difference is on the defensive end where Southern Illinois gives up just 56 points to Indiana State's 66. If you combine these numbers, the expected points would be in the mid 120s, and we agree that this one should get to at least 120 points. Indiana St. is 11-5 to the OVER after an ATS loss, while S. Illinois has played 13-6 to the UNDER when the total is under 119.5.
Game: Uconn at Rutgers (7:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Rutgers +5
There couldn't be more of a reputation line in college basketball than this game. Exactly what have the Huskies done to be favored at the RAC against Rutgers? Their NCAA Tournament hopes went up in flames against Syracuse and at 16-10, with an RPI in the 90s, the only hope now is to get into the Big East Tournament, which is no guarantee, and win it. It hasn't been a pretty picture for Rutgers either, as they enter at 10-16, but have played their best basketball of the year as of late. They have covered five of their last six, and at home in their last three lost to a 20-win team in W. Virginia by just six points, beat Cincinnati and beat Seton Hall. Rutgers went to UCONN without top scorer and top rebounder JR Inman, and took UCONN to OT. They were able to do that not only without their top scorer, but with three players fouled out and with an abysmal 29% shooting effort. UCONN is 1-8 on the road and is being outscored by an average of 9-ppg. The offense has been horrific. They shoot just 36.3% and 27.6% from three-point range, and also connect on just 55.6% of their FT's on the road. Look for Rutgers, not only to cover this one, but get the straight-up win as well.
Game: Vanderbilt at Mississippi St. (8:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Mississippi St. -6
Vanderbilt comes in fresh off the heels of a huge emotional win at home over Florida. Mississippi State has been on a tear of their own winning three straight games while covering 9 of their last 11! This has been a house of horrors for Vandy, as they have not won here since 1994, and the last four trips have an average margin of 16-ppg. Vandy is just 4-5 on the road this season, and is a pathetic 12-31 ATS off a South Eastern Conference home win. This is a bad spot for Vandy, coming off the biggest emotional win of the year and traveling to a building they have not won in since '94, vs. a team that has been red-hot.
Game: Nc State at North Carolina (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on North Carolina -20
Never crazy about laying so many points, but sometimes a situation presents itself and you just have to take advantage. North Carolina State shocked North Carolina as a huge home dog a few weeks back. You can bet that this payback is going to be a very painful one for NC St. Roy Williams takes no prisoners and has no problem running up scores in games. NC has already won 15 games this season by more than this point-spread. The fact is, the last six games Carolina has been favored by more than 20 points, they are 6-0 ATS, with an average winning margin of 39.7-ppg! How's that for running up scores? Two of those games were Atlantic Coast Conference games, and when playing against the bottom three in the ACC at home, they have won by 26 and 37 points. This one will get very ugly.
Game: Purdue at Iowa (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Iowa -2.5
This is a match-up of teams that both dominate at home, but struggle on the road. Purdue has managed just one win on the road the entire season at Penn State. Not exactly a high-profile win. Iowa is 13-2 at home this season, and 5-1 in Big 10 play. The only loss was at the hands of No. 1 ranked Wisconsin. There is lots of value in Big 10 home teams especially when you have to lay a bucket or less. We will ride the 13-2 home team over the 1-8 road team in this one.
