Ncaa Mens Basketball Picks - February 19, 2010

We hit a bump in the road yesterday with our CBB picks going 2-4.  We look to come back tonight and add to our two month record of 158-133 and +48.3 units with two premium picks.

Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:

Game: Old Dominion at N. Iowa (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 114 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)

Both of these teams have NCAA dance aspirations and the winner gets a quality win, which they will need in case they are not their conference champion. Similar matchups in the past have really perplexed the oddsmakers. I have studied the bracket buster back to the onset. There is a totals system that has produced nearly 65% wins over the eight years and this game fits the criteria. While Northern Iowa plays a lot of low scoring games, they have one key element that applies here. They have played to a 20-6 mark at home to the OVER in their most competitive type games, those where they were favored by less than seven. That includes an 11-3 OVER mark the past three seasons. I'll take this one to go OVER the total.

The Gaels were a mess a few years ago and now hope to build the resume for post-season with a win.  The same is true for the Tribe. The Tribe has played nine straight unders in a conference where all the teams know the offensive sets and styles of the opponent. I expect this game to be played a lot looser. One marker is the fact the Tribe has played every lined out of conference game to the OVER! The Gaels out of conference games against quality teams such as Uconn, Providence and Baylor have also all went OVER. Also, non-conference games between two mid-majors with a total set under 130 have gone OVER 61% of the time over the past 13 years (128-82). I like the OVER here.
