Ncaa Mens Basketball Picks - February 15, 2009

Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:

Game: Illinois at Indiana (1:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Illinois -9.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)

Number 22 Illinois squares off vs. Indiana on CBS in this early game. I like the road team to win big. The Illini have covered five of the last six games played against Indiana including a 76-45 drubbing in January. The talent difference on defense is just too much here as Illinois is allowing just 56.6 per game vs. the 70.7 that Indiana gives up. The Hoosiers have won just one game in their last 14 games and they are simply way over matched here.

The Bulls roll in here with a 17-5 record that includes a 9-3 mark on the road and a 9-1 record in-conference. Ball State is just 5-5 in conference play and they have dropped four of their last five. They are scoring a paltry 57 points per game on the season. Buffalo has held their last five opponents to just 52.8 per game, so expect Ball to really struggle on offense here. Ball State has really struggled recently at home against good teams like Buffalo as they are 0-7 ATS the past two season vs. teams that are outscoring their opponents by 4+ points per game. And, they are 1-9 ATS vs. teams that hold opponents to under 43% from the field (Buffalo allows 42%). The Bulls are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games as a small road favorite of 6 or less. I like them to get it done here.
