Ncaa Basketball Bracket Picks - February 15, 2008
3-3-1 last night for a slight loss. Today we offer three, 3-unit picks to keep our 59% winning streak going. We are up 45.6 units over the last six weeks.
We also include a Dog Pound article on three "on the bubble" college hoops teams.
Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:
Game: Cornell at Harvard (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Cornell -5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Harvard enters this one at 1-5 in Ivy play and will likely be without Pat Magnerelli who is their leading rebounder and second-leading scorer. Defense has not been in the equation for the Crimson as they allow 46.3% from the floor and nearly 37% from the arc. That isn't a good recipe for the Ivy leader Cornell, as they are connecting on 48.5%, and over 42% from three-point range. Cornell has run the table in the Ivy so far and we look for them to move to 7-0 with an impressive double-digit road win at Harvard.
Game: Yale at Princeton (7:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Yale -1.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
How the mighty have fallen. Princeton is on a three-game Ivy League losing streak, and it won't get any easier tonight against Yale. The Tigers are simply getting out-scored, out-shot, and out-played the entire season and sit at just 5-15. The wins have come against teams with a combined record of 36-57, so they haven't shown the ability to beat, even a fair team this season. Yale isn't spectacular, but they have more options on the offensive end than the Tigers and will come away with a road win.
Game: Pittsburgh at Marquette (9:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 135.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Tough to up-tempo this Pitt team as 12 of their last 17 road games have played under the total. Marquette likes to play fast and in the first 11 games prior to Big East play, they were never held to under 73 points. Since Big East play has begun they have failed to top that mark six times, and face the masters of pace tonight in this Panther team, which runs everything on the defensive end of the court. Should be a physical battle with less scoring than indicated by this total, so we will play the UNDER here.
Results: 2-1
