Game: New Orleans at Arkansas St. (8:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Arkansas St. -3.5
This is a game that was postponed from Dec. 30 and will be played tonight. This game will be a great match-up of two standout players McCalebb for New Orleans and Banks for Arkansas State. McCalebb scores nearly 25-points per game (PPG), and Banks over 21 points. Banks also hits 51.2% from behind the three-point arc. Banks also has a great compliment underneath as Wells is averaging 15.3-ppg and 8.2 rebounds and he is the one that will create space for Banks. New Orleans gives up 39% from three-point range and that could really be the difference in this one. Ark St. is 9-2 at home, while New Orleans is only 5-9 on the road.
Game: Ucla at Arizona St. (8:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Arizona St. +11.5
UCLA is coming off a loss at West Virginia and there has to be some concern for this Bruin team playing on the road. They have now lost three of five road games and one of those wins was a single point victory. Arizona State has lost 14 straight games, so may not get UCLA's attention especially with a game at Arizona on Saturday. Arizona St. may not be putting games in the win column but in the highly competitive Pac-10 Conference they have lost no home games by more than this number and have lost by 1, 5, 8, 5 and 4 points. They have also played a 20+ win Davidson team to within five points and own a win over Iowa, so they are not a pushover. The highly ranked Bruin's should bring out the best in them, so look for this to be within the number.
Game: Oregon St. at Stanford (10:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Stanford -13.5
Stanford has really been an improving team as the season progresses. They have knocked off USC, UCLA, Washington State and Washington at home. They have out-rebounded eight of their last nine opponents while Oregon State is being out-rebounded in 12 straight by seven boards a game. Oregon St shoots just 41% on the road and a horrid 25% from beyond the arc, with an even poorer representation from the charity stripe hitting just 50.6%. Stanford has allowed the last eight opponents to shoot only 36.8% and this team, at 15-8, needs a win. We look for Stanford to win convincingly here as Oregon St. has lost by 11 or more points against any Pac-10 team with a winning record.
