Ncaa Final Four Predictions - February 12, 2008
Gave back a few units last night as we finished 1-2. Tonight we fire back with three more picks including another 4-unit play. Our top-rated plays (4 and 5-unit selections) are 52-22 over the last six weeks and over that time we are 147-98 for 60% and +54.3 units.
Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:
Game: Butler at Wisconsin-milwaukee (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Butler -6 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Butler manhandled this Wisconsin-Milwaukee team a few weeks ago and we expect nothing short of that tonight. The Panthers were held to 19 points at the half and could do nothing against the Butler defense. The Bulldogs are well equipped from the line to put games away, as they connect on 76%. The Panthers have cooled off, losing two straight to inferior teams, and simply lack the go-to player to penetrate a tough Bulldog defense. The Panthers are shooting just 40% on the season and are going to have trouble here as the Bulldogs come away with a convincing double-digit win.
Game: Northern Illinois at Akron (8:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Northern Illinois +18 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)
Akron is now just 3-3 after a 14-3 start, clearly they are not at their best right now, although the Zips are a perfect 12-0 at home. The Huskies have yet to breakthrough on the road where they have been 0-10. The Huskies, however, are not getting blown-out in these road losses. Aside from a big loss at Notre Dame they would have covered this lofty number in their last seven road losses, and have covered six of their last nine on the road. This looks like too many points and we doubt if we see the Zips "A" game in this one.
Game: North Carolina at Virginia (8:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on North Carolina -8.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Virginia just has not shown much against anyone in the ACC especially the top tier of teams. The Cavaliers lost to Clemson by over 30 points on their own court, and have only managed a single win over Boston College in conference play, dropping nine of their last 10. The Heels have had three tough ones in a row, winning twice in OT while losing at home to Duke. You can be sure that Roy Williams will have the troops ready to bring it tonight in Charlottesville. The Cavs have managed to cover just two ACC games and have shown difficulty keeping opponents off the scoreboard, as the last five have averaged 82 points per game. Carolina can score with the best of them and we see a long night for the Cavs.
Results: 2-1
