Free Ncaa Bracket Predictions - February 10, 2008
Almost swept the 7 games yesterday as we went 6-1, good for +13.4 units. We have now gone 146-93 (61%) over our last 239 picks good for 65.6 units. Three more plays today with a 4-unit pick.
Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:
Game: Saint Joesph's at Xavier (12:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Xavier -9.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Saint Joseph’s is playing well as Phil Martelli has once again put together a solid team, but this by far will be the toughest road test of the season for the Hawks. Xavier has been punishing all comers on their home court this season. They have already beaten a very good Kansas State team here by 26, Virginia by 38, Dayton by 26, and have won each of their last seven home games by double-digits, and 12 of their 13 wins have come by double-digits, with an average margin of 25.5 points per game. They present matchup problems all over the court and if you zone them they drop 40% of their 3's. Could be a long day for Phil Martelli, at this point it is impossible to play against this Xavier team on their home floor.
Game: Southern Alabama at Troy (2:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Troy +9 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Jaguars have played some terrific basketball this season and will enter this game having won 15 of their last 16. Their play at home has been superior, but their road play leaves some questions about this team. They had an 18-point win at LA-Monroe, but that team is just 3-9 in their last 12. They have played to a 3-3 record in their other six true road games, and their biggest win has been by 11 points. Troy sits at the bottom of the Sun Belt Conference, which only has three legit teams in Arkansas-Little Rock, Western Kentucky and Southern Alabama, and possibly a fourth in Middle-Tennessee that stands at 8-5 in the conference. Troy has played very well against the top of the conference at home. They lost to Middle-Tennessee by one, Western Kentucky by four, and Arkansas-Little Rock by three, as well as beating North Texas. This one may look easy on paper, but expect the Trojans to hang tough.
Game: Arizona State at Arizona (2:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Arizona -9.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)
The Sun Devils got out of the gate at 14-2 and looked like a player in the Pac-10 mix, but the wheels have fallen completely off. They have now dropped five in a row, and even their two wins prior to the five-game skid, required OT to win. They have dropped their last three on the road by an average of over 20 points per game, and have come no closer than 14. The offense that was once scoring over 70 points a game has really struggled, as they have managed just 54.4 ppg in their last five. Tough to find the win column when you’re shooting 38%, and 29.6% from behind the arc, getting pasted on the boards by 10 a game and forcing just 10 turnovers a game. Those are the numbers for the Sun devils in their last five. The Wildcats have seven losses, but have played the toughest schedule in the country, that has already featured going against seven teams in the top 10 in the country, and gave Kansas their toughest home game this season in an OT loss. This team has shooters all over the court, takes care of the ball and playing well. We see a convincing Wildcat win here.
