Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:
Game: Bowling Green at Western Michigan (2:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Western Michigan -7.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Bowling Green Falcons are a very poor offensive team, and right now have been playing at their worst. The Falcons have averaged just 57 points per game over their last five. They have shot 40% or less in three of them, and over the last three games have hit just 9-44 from deep, just over 20%. Western Michigan has been over the 70-point mark 13 times this season, and it will hard for the Falcons to match them on the offensive end. The Broncos have been at their best bouncing back from a loss as they are a perfect 7-0 ATS following a loss. I'll go with Western Michigan in this one.
Game: Depaul at U Conn (8:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Depaul +16 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The DePaul Blue Demons have yet to win on the road this season at 0-7. They were completely outclassed early in the season, but have come on strong of late and have covered each of their last five - all of them in this pointspread range from 13-17. They are 7-1 ATS in that range on the season. The improvement stems from having Mac Koswal back on the court. Koswal missed three weeks and it really hurt DePaul. He is averaging a double-double, and having him on the floor makes a huge difference. While the UConn Huskies showed that they can play with anyone, they more often than not let teams play with them. The Huskies own wins by this line against Maine, Iona and Boston, so this is hardly a slam dunk for the Huskies who manage to keep everyone in the game. Lately they have not been getting it done at just 2-6. The trio of Robinson, Walker and Dyson are very athletic and talented, but that trio has amazingly also committed 200 turnovers already this season. Each player through just 22 games, and this group includes two seniors that played all four years, have all broken their career high in turnovers. I'll go with DePaul in this one.
Game: Arizona State at Washington (10:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Washington -4 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Huskies can't get anything done on the road or neutral court where they are winless on the season at 0-6, and getting outscored by 12.7 points per game. This one takes on a different look as the Huskies have one of the biggest home-court advantages in the country, and they have used it to put together a 15-1 mark at home where they have outscored teams by 18 ppg, making a difference of 31 ppg. They are also 4-0 ATS at home laying less than 10. They have inside out threats in Poindexter and Thomas who combine for 37 ppg, and the Sun Devils’ offense simply does not have enough to keep up on the road. The Huskies lost at Arizona by 17, but won at home by 6, and they lost at Arizona St. by 17 as well, so I look for them to turn that one around as well. I'm going with Washington in this one.
Results: 2-1
