Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:
Game: St. Peter's at Fairfield (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on St. Peter's +6 (-110) (risk 2 to win 1.8)
The Fairfield Stags looked like they were a player in the MAAC alongside Siena, but have seemed to fall back after losing at home to the Saints - maybe even a bit beforehand. Since before Christmas, which covers 12 games, the Stags show a 7-5 record, but that doesn't begin to tell the story of their struggles. Conference doormat Marist has been the only decisive game they have had, winning that one by 20 points. The other six wins were all close calls by 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2 points, almost like a countdown. The Peacocks meanwhile, are starting to come on strong with six wins in their last seven games and are a dangerous dog here. The Peacocks are playing their best in the doggie role as they are now 20-6-1 ATS in their last 27. Every dog has his day and I like this live dog, so will go with St. Peter's here.

The Bengals have been doing ok, but just haven't been able to get much done on the road where they have just one win to show for the season. They were blown out on the road by 20+ in three of their first four on the road. Despite some tough competition since, they have been much more competitive. Their biggest loss in the last seven has been by 12 points. The Bobcats played well early, but have hit the wall, winning in just two of their last six, and have not won a game by more than 9 points since a week before Christmas. This line is set too high as the Bengals have played up as the season has gone on, and the Bobcats have played down. I'll go with Idaho St. here.
Game: Portland State at Sacramento State (10:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Sacramento State +4 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Sacramento State Hornets have eight wins on the season, which is two more than they had combined over the last two years. They hit the wall, but bounced back nicely in their last game out with a resounding 17-point win as a double-digit dog. This is a team that is better than what most are used to, and have also gotten a win at Oregon State this season. Portland State is not exactly a confident bunch at just 4-8 in their last 12 and isn't the type of team you want to invest in on the road as a favorite as they are just 3-8. The Hornets have delivered a 5-1 ATS mark in their last six as a dog, and I like them here in this one.
