Basketball Free Gambling Ncaa Pick - February 05, 2009

We hit our play last night - a moneyline winner on Michigan State. Over the last month, our college hoops plays are hitting 60%, 45-30 for +26.6 units. Today we feature four premium CBB picks including a 5-unit play!

Today we also feature an article in the "Dog Pound" below.

Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:

Game: Penn State at Michigan (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Penn State +4.5 (-110) (risk 2 to win 1.8)

Early on, Michigan looked to be a young team on the rise as they recorded wins over UCLA and Duke. They then jumped out to a 3-1 mark in the Big-10 and looked to be a serious contender. Then the wheels fell off as the Wolverines are just 1-5 since. They are now having trouble locating the rim as they have managed just 56.3 points per game in the last six. The Nittany Lions, as it turns out, is the team no one expected to be as successful as they have been, but enter here at 17-5. A lot of their success can be attributed to the emergence of Taylor Battle who can dominate a game with his 19 ppg average, 5.5 rebounds, and five assists. He is the type of player that makes those around him better and Penn State has ridden his leadership and ability to much greater heights than expectations. Michigan may also get caught sleeping here, as they have No. 1 UConn next up. I like Penn State in this one.

Game: Elon at Georgia Southern (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Elon +4 (-110) (risk 2 to win 1.8)
The Phoenix took their 0-9 road mark to Charleston in their last game and came away with a shocking win over Bobby Cremins’ team. It may not be as surprising as the Phoenix have been playing at a much higher level the past couple of weeks where they have gone 2-2. More importantly, they have covered them all, as the losses were by two points, and three points - which was a game that went to OT. The last three losses have been by four points or less. The Eagles are certainly no powerhouse, after their best stretch of the season, winning three of five, they have now dropped their last three by a total of 49 points or 16.3 ppg. These are two teams heading in opposite directions and Elon is a live dog I'm backing here.

Game: North Texas at Southern Alabama (8:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 5 units on Southern Alabama -246 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 2)

North Texas has not fared well on the road this season. When you look at their 4-6 road mark, it looks like they have done ok, but when you look at the four wins it is easier to see what is going on. They won their first road game of the year at Sam Houston State - hardly a household name in the world of college basketball. The other three have come at the expense of Florida International (9-15), Louisiana, Lafayette (7-14), and Indiana State (4-19). Those teams combine to have a 20-48 record, or winners of just 29% of their games. The Jaguars present a different set of problems for the Mean Green. They have a winning record on the season and North Texas has yet to breakthrough on the road against a winning team. I don't expect them to here either, and will play Southern Alabama on the moneyline.

Game: Cal Santa Barbara at Cal Fullerton (10:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Cal Santa Barbara +5.5 (-110) (risk 2 to win 1.8)
The Cal-State Fullerton Titans have been winning games, but they really have left themselves with little margin for error. While six of their last seven losses have been by double-digits, their last five wins have been escapes. The Titans have won their last five by 6, 1, 4, 4, and 4 points respectively. They are either getting blown out or going to the wire, so the points here are very inviting. The Gaucho's (radio and TV’s Jim Rome’s Alma Mater) have a penchant for close games as well, but unfortunately they have turned up on the losing end falling just short. Three of their last five losses were by 4, 2, and 2 points. These teams seem to have a flair for the dramatic, and the points here look golden. I'll back the Santa Barbara Gaucho's to play this one tight.

Results: 2-2
