Ncaa Basketball Predictions - February 04, 2008
Another winning day as we went 2-1 yesterday to grab another 2.5 units to bring our five-week run to 62% for +66 units. Over that span our 4-unit and 5-unit plays have gone 51-18 and we go with another 4-unit pick for a total of three plays today.
Today's NCAA Basketball Picks:
Game: N C- Greensboro at Georgia Southern (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on N C- Greensboro +2.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Spartans have now gone 10-2 in their last 12 game and are playing with confidence. Kyle Hines has been a dominating player lately. He has averaged 22 points per game, 10.7 rebounds per game and 2.3 blocks per game over his last six outings. Hines had a sub-par game against Georgia Southern earlier, but the Spartans still won by 12. Georgia Southern loaded up its early schedule resulting in a 9-2 start, but has since been 5-6, which shows that they aren't as good as perhaps their record would indicate. Spartans have the edge here, so we will grab the points with a live dog.
Game: San Diego at Pepperdine (10:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Pepperdine +3.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Waves certainly have had a couple of down seasons, but one thing they can do is score. They are putting up nearly 80 ppg, and the only time they have been a home dog this season has been to Gonzaga. A much worse Waves team lost by just four points to the Toreros here last season. Toreros fight to score at times, which enhances the Waves chances here. Toreros will be road chalk for just the second time this season, and we don't think they get it done here.
Game: Portland at Santa Clara (11:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Santa Clara -11.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)
Portland can't be feeling very good about themselves as they have been out-scored 165-90 in their last two games. The Pilots aren't shooting well and haven't shown much on the defensive end of the floor either. The offense is stagnant as they have committed 337 turnovers to just 287 assists. Santa Clara is coming off an OT loss to Gonzaga, but we don't expect them to be flat as they have covered the last three years after playing Gonzaga at home, including winning by 16 points over Portland last year. The Broncos are one of the best shooting teams in the country at 49.2% and also connect on over 40% from behind the arc. This looks like a 20 point game from here.
Results: 2-1
