Nba Basketball Pick Online - November 30, 2008We won again last night going 3-2 including a win on the 5-unit pick. We're 29-17 (63%) over the past two weeks on the NBA hardwood. Today we have four picks including another 5-unit play... ![]() Today's NBA Basketball Picks: Portland is off to a great start at 11-6 and they are doing it on defense. On the season, they are holding opponents to 93.5 points per game and over the past five games, it has dropped to 88.4. Detroit of course is winning too. And as usual, this is a defense-first team, especially in games against formidable foes. This total is low, but I expect the game to come in under it as I expect an intense defensive-laden game. Even dating back to last season, the Trailblazers are 31-19 UNDER when facing a winning team (including 27-11 UNDER against teams at .600 or better). Detroit is 34-20 UNDER against winning teams over the same span. During that time, they are 20-5 UNDER against teams that outrebound their opponents by 3+ per game (Portland is outrebounding opponents 49-45 on average). Finally, under coach McMillan, the T-Blazers are 15-3 UNDER after back-to-back 100+ point games. Game: Chicago at Philadelphia (5:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Chicago +6 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6) The Bulls are just 2-7 on the road this season, but I like them to keep this one close. Philadelphia has covered the spread in just one of their last six games overall and in two of their last six as a favorite. Their offense has been dismal of late, averaging just 86.8 points per game over their last five. So, they won't likely be able to take advantage of the Bulls' big weakness - defense. As Derrick Rose gets more games under his belt, he'll get better and better and so will the Bulls. Right now they are a slightly undervalued team. When these two teams last met in March of last season, Philadelphia laid a major beat-down on Chicago, 121-99. The revenge factor will provide an edge here as well. I like Chicago plus the points. Game: New Jersey at Phoenix (8:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 5 units on New Jersey +9 (-110) (risk 5 to win 4.6) Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 206.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) New Jersey, behind the emerging Devin Harris, could actually be a good team. They are already 2-1 on this West Coast road trip and face a Phoenix team that is just 4-4 at home so far this season. Steve Nash is banged up and I look for Harris to do well against him here. The Nets are 5-3 on the road, scoring 104 ppg. Over their last five games they are averaging 111 per game. With the departure of D'Antoni, Phoenix is no longer a run-and-gun scoring team. They are averaging just 97.6 ppg atg home and should not be laying this kind of wood. This should be a high-scoring game in the end as I expect New Jersey to get well over 100. I like the Nets to keep this one quite close, and for the game to go OVER the total. ![]() NBA Basketball Picks Resources:
