Basketball Picks - November 03, 2007

Today's NBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Indiana at Memphis (8:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Indiana +5
The Pacers destroyed the grizzlies twice in the pre-season. The Pacers have upgraded in a big way with the play of Danny Granger. The former New Mexico star is fast becoming an NBA star. Granger has averagesd 22.5 ppg, 11rpg and 2 bpg. Add to that Mike Dunleavy averaging nearly a double double, and Ike Diogu chipping in with 14.5p pg, and this Pacers frontcourt is rolling. You can now plug in Jermaine O'Neal in the middle and another double-double guy resides inside. Jamaal Tinsley is also knocking on the door of double digit assists per game, and the Pacers suddenly have some answers. Memphis got just 3 rebounds from Paul Gasol, who was slowed by an ankle sprain, and that is all the "brute" they have. Memphis struggled as home chalk last year, going just 5-9 and one thing is for sure: the Pacers aren't as soft a touch they appeared to be coming in. When Mike Miller at guard is your leading rebounder, it speaks volumes to the location of your weakness (which happens to matchup with Indiana's strength). Indiana comes away with the money here.
Game: Portland at Houston (8:35 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on First Half UNDER 102 -110
Houston is off to a great start. But, it's all T-Mac as the rest of the team, including Yao Ming, aren't contributing much. McGrady is hitting 57% through two games and that can't continue forever. The Blazers are 0-2, scoring just 95 points per game. They know they have to keep this score low to have a shot. They will obviously look to make someone other than T-Mac beat them. The Trailblazers were 23-12 UNDER the first half total last year when facing a winning team and 30-11 UNDER on the road as an underdog.
Game: Chicago at Milwaukee (8:35 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 193.5 -110
The last time these two teams met (March of this year), they put up 247 points. Chicago's gave up 112 to New Jersey in their opener (also on the road). Milwaukee has given up 102 each to Orlando and Charlotte. Last season, Milwaukee started the season going OVER 22 of 33 times and they are continuing that trend this year. Scott Skiles is 25-11 OVER as a head coach in November games in his career. We see little defense again here and an OVER.
