Free Nba Basketball Pick - November 02, 2007
Tonight we have three picks on the hardwood...
Today's NBA Basketball Picks:
Game: New York Knicks at Cleveland (7:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on New York Knicks +5
The Knicks have made some deals that give them a much stronger interior presence than they have had in a while. The addition of Zac Randolph, coupled with the emerging Eddie Curry, gives the Knicks two 20-10 guys under the rim. This is going to be a much better offensive team than we have seen from the Knicks in quite some time. The Cavs were hammered by the Mavericks at home and look like a team with a "success" hangover from last year. LeBron played about as bad as it gets, barely reaching double figures with 10 points, and had more turnovers than assists. Gibson, Hughes, and the like just looked like no-shows. We have seen this from teams in the past. They have some success and then have trouble getting the motor going the next season early on. The Knicks are a hungry team that can score some points, and go deep on the bench for shooters. This may be the perfect place for the Knicks to steal one before the Cavs wake-up.
Game: Portland at New Orleans (8:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on First Half UNDER 99.5 -110
The Blazers were manhandled as expected by the Spurs in their opener. They now travel again to New Orleans to face a Hornets team that looked good in their opening game win over Sacramento behind solid play by Chris Paul. The Hornets won by 14 as a 5.5 point favorite. In early season NBA games, teams off a losing season go UNDER the first half total 63% of the time. Here we have two such teams and a total that is set pretty high. We like the UNDER in the first half here.
Game: Los Angeles Lakers at Phoenix (10:35 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on First Half UNDER 109 -110
Phoenix scored 106 in their opener last night but the game they played in came in way under the posted total of 224 (missed it by 19 points!). They now face a second straight game with a stratospheric total. The first half-total is set quite high than what would normally be dictated by the game total (109 vs. 217). With this Phoenix offense, and Kobe Bryant on the other side, the total is inflated. These teams know each other and we expect enough defense, especially in the first half, to keep this one UNDER. Seven of the last eleven games played in this series here in Phoenix have gone UNDER the first half total. Under Jackson, the Lakers are 57-41 UNDER to the first half total in games with a total posted over 100. Under D'Antoni, the Suns are 47-32 to the UNDER in the first half when at home with a total at 106 or higher. Finally, November games featuring a first half total higher than 105 have gone UNDER 72% of the time over the past decade!
Results: 1-2
