Free Picks Basketball - May 08, 2010We went 1-3 in NBA last night and are 82-55 over the last two months in NBA for +60 units. Over the last three weeks, our NBA picks are 42-23 for 65% winning and +48 units. Today, six picks including two 5-unit picks.
 Today's NBA Basketball Picks: The Orlando Magic have looked scary good in their first two games in this series at home to open a 2-0 series lead over the Hawks. We have seen this many times before, and I would expect the results of game three may do exactly what the others have - a totally different outcome. These teams have come back to lay an egg in game three where they have posted a 24-40 ATS mark in rounds two and three over the last 18 years. It certainly offers value as the last time these clubs met in Atlanta, the Hawks were favored and won the game outright. Orlando is also a decidedly UNDER team off a single day of rest where they have cashed the UNDER to a 52-23-1 mark. This series played in Atlanta has also seen six of the last eight stay UNDER as well. I'll go with Atlanta and UNDER here.Game: Orlando at Atlanta (5:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on First Half UNDER 98.5 -110 (risk 2 to win 1.8) The Magic have been one of the most solid under teams in the NBA off of one day of rest, as they have turned-in a 52-23-1 mark to the UNDER. The Hawks need this one, and that usually means an early defensive statement. Game three is usually the make or break game in a series in the NBA playoffs, and historically that means teams bring the defense to open the game. That is why the first-half under is 240-158 in the last 398 playoff game threes. I'll back the first-half UNDER in this one.Game: Los Angeles Lakers at Utah (8:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 5 units on Utah -4.5 (-110) (risk 5 to win 4.6) Pick: 2 units on First Half UNDER 101.5 -110 (risk 2 to win 1.8) The Lakers have taken care of business at home winning the first two in this series, but that doesn't bode well for game three. Game threes have seen the team down 2-0 in the series come back to cover game three at a 63% rate. Expect the Jazz who have only failed to cover five times in their last 31 home games as a favorite of 4.5 or less to respond big in this spot. That has also translated in playoffs games for this Jazz squad as they are 8-1-1 ATS as a chalk of 4.5 or less in their last 10. The Lakers have had huge consistency issues. After an ATS win, they have now gone on to go 1-11 ATS in their next game. Game three has an elongated history of being the pivotal game in a seven-game series, and that usually means fired-up defenses to start the game with 60% of all game threes going UNDER in the first half. I'll go with the Jazz and the first-half UNDER in this one.Game: Los Angeles Lakers at Utah (8:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 5 units on Utah -200 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 2.5) The Los Angeles Lakers have really struggled with consistency, and have now followed an ATS win with a 1-11 ATS mark. The Jazz has only failed to cover five times as a favorite of 4.5 or less in their last 31, and in the playoffs in that same situation they are 8-1-1 ATS. That means they are winning over 80% of the time in this situation, and with a moneyline of just 2-1, we have a lot of value on the Jazz here. I'll go with Utah on the moneyline.
