Free Basketball Picks - May 07, 2010We blanked the books 2-0 yesterday for another winning NBA day. Yesterday's sweep added to our torrid three-week run where we have gone 44-21 for +68% and +64 units - putting us at positive units on the season overall. In case you haven't noticed, I've had Orlando at the top of my Power Rankings for most of the season. They are proving to be the best team in the NBA right now. In the first round, had you played the better team according to my rankings to win their series, you would have gone 7-1. That includes upsets of San Antonio over Dallas and Utah over Denver. The biggest upset call in the second round by the power rankings is San Antonio over Phoenix. The Spurs are down 2-0. Can they come back to win the series? I think they can! You can currently get them at +250 which I think has value. I also believe getting the Celtics at +210 at this point is a positive-EV bet. We are back on the NBA floor today with four more premium picks including a pair of 5-unit selections.
![]() Today's NBA Basketball Picks: The Cleveland Cavaliers may have had the best record in the NBA regular season, but they watched the Celtics claim home-court advantage in what is now a best of five series, with three left to be played in Boston. The Celtics have Pierce, Garnett and Allen, but what they didn't expect a couple of years ago was that Rajon Rondo would emerge as one of the top PGs in the NBA. He put on a clinic with 19 assists in game two. The Cavs are becoming to dependant on LeBron, and often get caught watching. He will get his points, but the Celtics simply have more options and are playing aggressive defense. Cleveland has now gone 1-6 ATS as a small road favorite of up to 4.5, while the Celtics weigh in at 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 as a home dog. Game threes have historically played really tight in the first half, with an amazing 60% of such games going UNDER in the first-half UNDER over the past decade and a half. The Celtics have held foes to just 43.4 first-half points in the playoffs this season and they are 30-16 UNDER in the first-half overall in playoff games the past three seasons. These teams can both "D" it up, and I expect this game starts there. I'll go with Boston and the first-half UNDER.Game: Phoenix at San Antonio (9:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 5 units on San Antonio -6.5 (-110) (risk 5 to win 4.6) Pick: 2 units on Game Total OVER 205.5 -110 (risk 2 to win 1.8) The Phoenix Suns have taken charge with two wins at home. Now the Spurs come home where they have been down right nasty in their last 15 here, posting a 13-2 mark. They swept the three home games vs. the Mavericks, and will be bringing the "A" game here. The Spurs in the Duncan era, rarely get tripped up when they are supposed to win, as they have failed to cover just six times in their last 30 as a playoff favorite. That certainly bodes well for them here vs. a Suns team that has struggled some on the road this season. Both of these teams have been OVER-oriented as they both enter with a five-game OVER streak when facing an opponent with a winning record. It is no wonder why the last five meetings have also eclipsed the total. When San Antonio has faced a really good 3-point shooting team this season (39%+ from beyond the arc), they are a perfect 9-0 OVER. I'll go with San Antonio and the OVER in this one. Results: 1-3 ![]() NBA Basketball Picks Resources:
