We rate each pick 1 to 5 units with 5 being the strongest play (read about units).
Risk 1% of your bankroll per unit (never risk more than 5% of total bankroll on any pick).
Game: Houston at Philadelphia (6:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Houston -5.5
Houston has been a good road team over the past few seasons. A lot of that good fortune has to do with their defense. Philadelphia has played better lately, but they have for the most part struggled against the good teams either home or away. Most teams seem to thrive when placed in the underdog role at home, but Philly has not. They have been just 4-8 ATS against .500+ teams in this role. While Philly has struggled, Houston has thrived in this role. The Rockets have been 7-2 ATS as a road favorite vs. sub .500 teams. We will ride the road-favored Rockets here.
Game: Seattle at Portland (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Portland -3.5 Pick: 2 units on Game Total OVER 196 -110
Does playing back-to-back consecutive games against top teams make a team weaker or stronger, when the next game is against an opponent that is sub .500? Certainly after two tough opponents and two hard games, the next one must feel easier. Portland has been 5-0 ATS in such situations this season. Seattle has been a solid team at home playing above .500, but when they head out on the road they have been about as bad as it gets. They have won just three of their last 24 road games. We also like the OVER here, as 3 of the last 4 games here have been OVER. Totals in the 190-point range have seen a team off a 10-point loss or more, with both teams being bad (winning 25-40%) have gone OVER in 40 of 56 games. Seattle is also 19-4 to the OVER off of an upset loss as a favorite.
