Today's NBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Orlando at Cleveland (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Cleveland -6 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
There is no doubt about the Cavaliers strength at home. The NBA's overall defensive leader in points allowed at 91.3 is even stronger defensively at home. The Cavs are allowing just 86.6 points per game in their last 23 at home. It is no wonder they boast the top home mark in the NBA at 29-1. What is truly amazing is 23 of the 29 wins have come by 10 points or more. They aren't just winning they are playing no-contest games. Since the first of the year, no team with a winning record has come within 10 in their home wins. I'm not discounting a strong Orlando team, but until someone proves otherwise, fading the Cavs at home is just not being smart. I'll ride Cleveland to another big home win.
Game: Boston at Chicago (8:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Boston -1 (-120) (risk 3 to win 2.5)
The Celtics have suffered a cluster of injuries, but Eddie House is playing and Rondo is back. That should make a difference tonight against the Bulls. The Bulls haven't been getting it done themselves, having dropped three of their last four games. The Bulls have had trouble putting together any type of consistency as they have followed a win by going a dismal 18-37-1 ATS. They have also been their worst against the NBA Atlantic Division where they are 9-22 ATS in their last 31. Boston has been a thorn for the Bulls as the Celtics now own the ATS win in the last seven against the Bulls and I like that to become eight tonight. The Celts get the call in this one.
Game: Minnesota at San Antonio (8:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 191.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Timberwolves were coming on as a team, but then lost their best player - Al Jefferson for the season. They have since lost their inside presence and the ability to stop anyone from driving the lane for a dish-off or easy two. The result is nine of the 16 games without Jefferson have seen opponents rack up 110+ on the T-Wolves. The road has been worse, especially against the better teams, as nine of the last 10 teams with winning records have piled up 100+. The T-Wolves have also managed to get their share as they have been over 90 points in 18 of their last 19 games themselves. This one is set too low, so OVER gets the call here.
