Today's NBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Utah at Boston (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Boston -7 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
We have backed the Jazz on the road lately and gotten burned. They have shown us that even when they should have something to prove, they don't do it. Now they face a Celtics team that can seal the Atlantic Division title with a win tonight and is blowing out opponents. The Celtics have won ten straight and covered in five straight, including lines of -11, -11 and -18. How good is this team? The last time they had a double-digit win streak like this was in 1985-86 when they won their last NBA championship. This season they are 29-4 in this building, winning by 13 points on average. Utah's defense has allowed their last four opponents to score 105+. This season the Jazz are 3-12 ATS after allowing 100+ in two straight games. Boston is 12-3 ATS after a 20+ point win this season. Celts cruise here.
Game: San Antonio at Detroit (8:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Detroit -3 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)
The Pistons are one of the best home teams in the NBA at 24-6, and are coming into this one off a home loss. They have gone 47 home games without losing back-to-back at home, and this year in their next home game following a loss they have destroyed teams, going 5-0 SU and 5-0 ATS, beating the pointspread by an average of over 10 points per game! They are now 8-0 SU and 7-1 ATS during this streak, the lone loss by a half-point. San Antonio made a good run winning 11 straight, but have made the downward turn again, losing three of four. The Spurs have sputtered on the road at 17-15. That breaks down to 13-3 against teams under .500, and a woeful 4-12 vs teams .500+. The Spurs have only covered one of their last nine, and Detroit is potent off home loss, so we will back them here.
Game: Charlotte at Houston (8:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Houston -10.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)Pick: 3 units on First Half UNDER 98.5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Rockets are impossible to play against right now, on fire with 20 straight wins. They have beaten the last eight teams at home by double-digits, and 12 of the last 13. They are on an amazing 17-1 ATS run as well overall. Charlotte has been bad on the road with just six wins, and against the .500+ teams have managed a 1-13 SU record, going 3-10 ATS. They have dropped 11 of the 14 by double-digits, and in the 13 losses the average losing margin has been 18.1 ppg. Staying with the Rockets for now. We also like the first-half UNDER here as the Rockets are holding opponents to 42.3 first-half points per game at home and they are getting stronger (41.2 over their last five). Charlotte is 31-17 UNDER in the first half coming off a road loss the past two seasons and 19-9 UNDER off a blowout loss by 15+ points. This season they are 15-7 UNDER in the first half after allowing 105+ in their last game. Houston and the first-half UNDER here.
Game: Minnesota at Seattle (10:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Minnesota +1.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 201 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Two bottom-dwellers meet for the second time in two weeks. Seattle went in to Minnesota and notched the win on March 2nd. Losing to Seattle at home can't be sitting well with the Timberwolves and we think they bring a bit extra here as a result in an effort to return the favor. Seattle has in fact won all three games this season in this matchup so that gives us even more confidence in Minnesota's effort tonight. The T-Wolves are 18-7 ATS the past two seasons on the road playing with double-revenge. Seattle has dropped six straight games and nine of their last ten overall. The T-Wolves have just four road wins this season, but two of them have come in their last two road games! While not superb, the Wolves have the better defense and we think they take this one. We also like the OVER given the state of these two defenses. Minnesota is allwoing 104.4 per game in division games while Seattle allows 102.1. Over their last five games, Minnesota is allowing 103.2 while Seattle is allowing 114.8! In games with a line of +3 to -3, the Wolves are 24-10 OVER the past two seasons. Minny and the OVER here.
Results: 4-2
