What a reversal of fortunes for Orlando. This team was 13-4 to start the season and then leveled out. Then they took a huge tumble, and have been just 7-22 in their last 29 games. Utah is playing as well as anyone right now having won 14 of their last 17, and six of their last seven wins have been by double digits. The opposite is true with this struggling Orlando team that has been beaten by double digits in five of their last six losses. 

These teams have had a long history of low-scoring games. The last four games played at Boston have all gone UNDER, and in this series, 12 of 18 have played UNDER. Boston is 35-20 to the UNDER when they are playing at home after a cover, so we will ride the UNDER in this one.

This could be a preview of the NBA Western Conference Finals. These teams have both had long winning streaks this season. Last year they met three times during the playoffs at Dallas, and even with playoff defense, they averaged 220-points per game (PPG) in those three meetings. As high scoring as Phoenix has been the last few years, the have now scored 100+ points in 29 of their last 32 games. They are a four-point underdog, so if they manage 100+ as they have in virtually every game, this game’s score is soaring over this total. The playoff games between these two teams at Dallas, when defense is more intense, still saw the an output that blistered past this number.

Detroit is often associated with playing well when their defense is clicking. Portland at home and Detroit on the road have combined to average 190-ppg. This line is set way too low. The fact is that Detroit has been a more effective team when their offense is clicking. They have been a remarkable 27-11 to the OVER the past three years when they are coming off of two consecutive covers as a favorite.

Cleveland has fared well to the OVER when the posted total is 196+ points. They have been 5-1 to the OVER in the last six games. The five times OVER have combined scores of 218.4-ppg, and none have been below 210 points! Memphis has played OVER in 16 of 21, after losing eight or more of their last 10 games. This series has also been "OVER-ly," dominated, as 14 of the last 19 have gone OVER, including 6 of 9 at Memphis.
