Today's NBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Cleveland at Washington (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Cleveland +2.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
Pick: 4 units on Game Total OVER 193.5 -110 (risk 4 to win 3.6)
Caron Butler is expected back here but don't expect him to have too much of an impact in his first action. He'll likely test that bad hip against a guy who is lighting it up. LeBron James is averaging 37 ppg, 8 rpg and 7.4 apg over his last seven games. In his career vs. the Wizards he has averaged over 30 ppg, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Cleveland has won 12 of the last 15 vs Washington and here we get some points to boot. The Cavs have been virtually a breakeven team to the posted total all season, having gone 32 OVER and 31 UNDER. There is one exception. When they play on the road vs a team with a sub-.500 record, their games have gone OVER the total to the tune of 13-1-1! Washington is now averaging over 100 points a game in their last six at home, and five of the six have gone OVER. They have given up over 106 ppg in their last four. Lots of value on the OVER indicated by recent, and season long trends. Cavs and the OVER here.
Game: Golden State at Phoenix (10:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Phoenix -6 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
A total set near 240? This game, featuring the two highest scoring teams in the Association, should be ridiculous. Golden State has won the two prior matchups, the last one coming by two points. You can bet Phoenix wants this one. We think they'll get it and cruise to an easy win and cover. After winning just three of their first nine games with Shaq in the lineup, Phoenix has won a couple of games in impressive fashion including a 7 point win over the World Champs and a 21 point beat down of Memphis. Phoenix has a slight defensive advantage which will be exacerbated by the location of this game and Shaq clogging the middle. Over the past three seasons, the Suns aer 77-52 ATS vs. winning teams and 63-44 ATS vs. three-point happy teams like Golden State. The Warriros are 20-34 ATS over that span as a road dog of 6 or less. THey are also a terrible 5-16 ATS this season off a home win.
